The interview with Ami Ayalon was important in that he did admit that continued occupation has resulted in apartheid, and that the biggest threat to Israel is a 1 state solution.

he said ...our Eastern border should be a border of our identity, not our security, but says nothing about eliminating or stopping the settlements.

In the spirit of full disclosure, it was appropriate to point out that Ami Ayalon is a member of the opposition Labor Party and in the past unsuccessfully ran for party leader.

Sadly Mr Rose does not get it when he said, "How long will the window of opportunity be open?" This is not about a top down led by leadership phenomenon but one of where two peoples are reaching the exhaustion point with killing each other. Further events have moved on and it is the Shite erg Iranian drive for regional hegemony that speaks the truth of the old axiom that the enemy of my enemy is my friend erg the Saudis and other Gulf States. Here one suspects that there may even be a back room agreement between the Sunnis in the Gulf States over the issue of the Iranians desire for hegemony.

The US economy will be in better shape after a period of adjustments, following the collapse of manipulative and destructive financial institutions such as JP Morgan and “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People”.

While having sympathy with Ayalon's major goals I had difficulty understanding how he hopes to achieve them. The Palestinians do not want to negotiate, are not ready even to talk with Israel. What does he want Israel to do then? Unilaterally withdraw from Judea and Samaria( The West Bank) make maximum concessions without receiving anything in return? Haven't we twice tried this route of unilateral withdrawal, in Lebanon and Gaza and received for it not peace and recognition but rather more intense hostility?

Peace cannot be made by one party alone no matter how much that party may want it.

I imagine Israel is going to be finding itself even more of an alien presence than it already is. But this struck me as essentially the policy of his govt, which has already thrown in with the Syrian rebels, and is beginning to be touted by the CFR crazies, regardless of al-Qaeda, in the belief that Iran is the greater threat. Until an acceptable solution can be found to the Palestinian question, a Sunni-Shia war is certainly not in the Palestinians' interest, as the recent rapprochement between the two factions there illustrates. So I don't know whether he's suggesting that Israel bury the hatchet with the Palestinians to get in return a free hand with the Iranians, or whether he hopes Sunni fears of Iran will allow the Palestinians to be ignored.
