Charlie, it is time to make some connections between your shows (which I love and appreciate). Connecting Neuroplasticity and its effect on the brains of U.S. soldiers might be a first step.
See article:
Why more US soldiers kill themselves in a world of peace than in a world of war.

I discussed the article with an ex marine, firefighter, and paramedic today. He had never heard of Neuroplasticity before but after reading the article, he told me that neuroplasticity and the connection to suicide does not only apply to soldiers but also to the suicide that he has experienced in other men in uniforms.
Reading the article might save not only soldiers' lives but also the life of other men.

It must be stated that when less than 1% of the US population is in uniform to fight wars that lack an objective goal free of propaganda and politics, it becomes a disillusion to participate in a war machine. The military has a dictatorial attitude and mind-set that prevents true measures to decrease the high incidence of mental health problems. Not enough resources? Consider 2 F35 aircraft of the 2400 ordered for eventual production or is that piece of machinery a too high price to pay?

Charlie,
If your going to discuss military and veteran suicides, you need to not only address the terror of fighting in war, but also the disillusionment that these wars have brought to many patriots that feel betrayed and despondent about a country that refuses to reckon their cost and sacrifice. Your conversation was helpful in bringing some attention to the epidemic, but really failed in addressing the paradox of why these wars have lead to a rash of suicides from men and woman that are both resilient and laudable.

We are told here they are just doing triage right now. Not enough professionals to meet demand.
Perhaps this is because someone is asleep at the switch.
LPCs are trying to help but the military says they are not all the same so they throw them all out and retest them.
If you are a Licensed Professional Counselor it should be the same throughout the country just like if you are a M.D.
The Federal Government should unify the states on what a LPC is and the military should hire the LPCs once this is done.

This should be fast tracked.

The military prepares your body with an hour to an hour and a half workout a day.
Yes, where is the preparation for the mind?

If it takes 50 days to see someone and you are on hold for 45 minutes for a suicide prevention HOTLINE then there are idiots at the helm.
Time for heads to roll before more heads take bullets or are separated from their bodies by ropes.
(Perhaps the tone and graphic nature is what is needed for the military mentality.)

I wouldn't discount disillusionment among the causes.
