So well-spoken. I had the privilege of being a friend and classmate with him in the MFA program at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. We all knew he was the one who would go far. Adam's new book is not a repeat of any other work concerning North Korea. It is original, fresh, and human. So many beautifully crafted yet haunting scenes. Adam is a master craftsman.

So . . . a place for buffoonery, against the law to talk to foreigners, no real skills for those outside the city, world of poverty, dentistry is the number one request upon escape, China doesn't want these 'losers', too many mines to escape to the south.
Sounds like this Paper Tiger really needs a nuclear weapon.

Haven't we heard all this before? And recently? There was "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" a number of decades ago. For the rest read my reply to Ms Gutmann today.
