I thought the interview could have been much longer because the topic is so crucial for our well being.
Our society suffers from obsessing too much into personal problems, conflicts, etc. We lack mechanisms that helps us deal with the everyday insecurities, fears & crisis situations, those things we can't resolve singlehandedly. The opportunity for being miserable just awaits us like a virus in the cesspool life's imperfections.
Just confronting life as an experience in duality is tough enough. Let me get the wrench, hammer and screwdriver and deal with my "shitanga"
Buying the book!

First, I wish the chakra-spammer would post somewhere else.
Second, the goal of these therapists was to provide keys to change, tools that could precipitate change. They aren't in the world-changing business, not politicians or pundits. Thank goodness. Come the revolution we need to hang the pundits (as opposed to journalists like Charlie Rose) even before we hang the lawyers.

I purchased and read the book last week. Right away I had an opportunity to test the "Inner Authority" tool... and have to say I am impressed. Plan to use these tools, as appropriate, with my clients. Thank you!

I enjoyed the discussion of "The Tools: Transform Your Problems into Courage, Confidence, and Creativity," with Stutz, Michels, and Rose. It made me curious. So, I have since bought the book. It makes you think, and pushes you forward, which is always good. Also, I liked the story of how it evolved from the beginning with Stutz and Michels. It just shows again how amazing life can be! Thanks!

I want to thank Phil and Barry and wanted to say so here after reading the rather mean sounding comments below. How does this help? I went out and bought the book and have already tried the Jeopardy tool. It gets you past your resistance to doing what you know you need to do. I feel felonious you guys! I say to myself, I spit on your pain! and get back on the bike. Baby steps but what a great feeling. It's simple, it gets down to the nitty gritty, it delivers immediate rewards. I do feel the urgency of time, I'm glad to have company like these guys along the way. Thanks again...

Thank you for sharing.
============================================================
The universe in its origin does not have any separation. All things are united as one.
Our next future is likely to be in the level of sharing through our souls, sharing the thoughts without privacy, sharing the pains without shame, sharing visions without limitation and sharing the joys without reservation.
Chakras are information and energy exchange centers with other Galaxies in different time lines.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chakra
================================================================
This 3-dimensional physical world does not exist in reality. We use this physical world to gain information into our souls. The soul works more than just a complex computer, having the capabilities of saving information, generating behaviors/thoughts/senses, having the will to survive, giving birth and etc…
The Sun, the gravitational force and our senses make this physical world to be so real to us, therefore we have never noticed that we are all enslaved ourselves for our limitation.
===============================================================
Here are 12 dimensions in the universe:3 physical dimensions, 3 non-physical dimensions, time, universe expansion, possibility, parallel dimension, merging/separation and duplication.
The highest physical l being in our universe is a nine dimensional intelligent being. After that, we can only see non-physical spiritual beings.
The 48 dimensional intelligent beings are purely high vibrating frequency of “female” energy filled with information; they have no form, no face and no gender as we defined, but they can transform themselves into anything and go into any physical bodies. They created us and our universe.
==============================================================
New understanding of eight senses or eight consciousnesses:
5 senses: sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell by eye, ear, tongue, skin and nose.
6 sense: intuition and compassion by the invisible soul inside our body
7 sense: invisible and immortal “data cable” transferring information between 6 sense and 8 sense during sleeping.
8 sense: our united non-separable soul kept together within mother earth. Invisible and immortal.
===============================================================
When we look into the sky, we are all humble by the creation.
There are total 48 dimensions in our universe. 36 dimensions are inaccessible to us. Our souls can access 12 dimensions (12 strand soul DNA) while this material world with plant earth limits us to only 3 dimensions with Double Helix DNA.
Knowledge is limitless, so does intelligent being.
Our soul has no difference; we are united as one. Our differences in body, senses, sex, intelligence, power and wealth, is only the trap in the darkness which prevent us to unite our other half soul into the lightness.
LIGHTNESS INTO THE SPACE AS SPACE- BEING. IT IS OUR FUTURE.

These two Guys are from not only California but from Hollywood as well? Go Figure. The problem with these two Guys is that they are selling a quick fix, but then they say that you have to keep on using these "Tools" over and over again. So even they are admitting that there is no quick fix. Also exactly what is a "TOOL" again? Can one buy it at say SEARS, like a Craftsman tool? In other words these two Guys have only given you, Mr Rose a buzz word without describing the mechanism and process of exactly what at least one of their "Tools" are? Ohhh Mr Rose many men at your age think a "Grateful Flow" is how they feel when they can take a good leak in the morning.
The real problem one finds with these two Guys is that they are using a cute New Age type of marketing for their product instead of going for the substance of their efforts. One thinks that there is no substitute for making your own emotional/intellectual "Tools" which takes time, effort and commitment. By making ones own "TOOLS" one learns process and mechanism and from that one can construct and deconstruct at will. But then again Mr Rose at least one of these two Guys can be forgiven because he only has 25 years under his belt. Tell him to come back in another 10 to 15 years and lets see what he has found out between here and there.
Further Mr Rose to answer your question, which these two Guys so neatly avoided of how long people need to stay in Cognitive Therapy for? Many people get into Cognitive Therapy to help them resolve a problem or a life crisis such as a death, illness or divorce. This type of situation can last anywhere from a few months to a couple of years. Many people may leave Therapy at this stage for several years only to come back for a deeper search or understanding of themselves. This deeper understanding or creating a real change usually takes about 7 years. However this is a bit misleading, because at this stage it usually becomes a life long endeavor of self awareness whether one is in Therapy or not.

Charlie, not exactly Eric Kandel level material:
'Grateful Flow is to deal with negative thinking. The most salient one in the book is worrying. There has been a tradition in the self-help world to substitute for the worrying, or negative thoughts, with positive thoughts.
Well and good. Cognitive Therapy speaks to that also. We found it is not strong enough. The negative thoughts mostly win. So what the Grateful Flow does is it gives the person the sense that all is fine with the universe. Not based on the specifics of the situation but based on their connection to something larger.
Gratefulness is important. It is like a bridge to something higher and bigger and more meaningful.'
We are also told, 'Power of positive thinking is not that powerful. Strong voice says “who cares”. Life is terrible.
What grateful flow does is moves you from your head to your heart.'
I have heard Eric Kandel mention Cognitive Behavioral Therapy several times but not once did he mention Grateful Flow.
I am going with mapping the circuits of the brain and neurotransmitters over Grateful Flow.

Charlie, you say for years Hollywood Actors and Writers and Producers have turned to two therapists for their problems.
So is that an endorsement?
Because when I hear Hollywood I don't think mental health.

Yes, never mind fairness. It's exactly what so-called ego psychology has been preaching since Jung's adolescent breakup with Freud, and religion generally long before that. Otherwise known as "moral victory." What those good Catholic liberals like the Kennedys do, (when they aren't screwing others, that is). Makes sense to have been touted on Dr Oz, that jack of all quackery. These ppl don't believe in the efficacy of reason like Freud. They don't believe in real change. They believe in going with the flow. Sure they want to "help" ppl, but as I've said before, this informs what we know as liberalism, welfare capitalism, Whig history and reform, and primitivism. And, of course, it begs the question of how to go about really changing the world, while at the same time rationalizing it, since it makes everyone into a client.
