I thoroughly enjoyed the interview, although I wish it would have been the full hour, so little time so much to cover. I would have like to hear Sen. Bradley's opinion about the Occupy Movement and whether this could be the type of engine of change that he described. I think Bradley is one of the most brilliant and insightful voices in American politics. I wish he had gotten the chance to be President in 2000. I have nothing against Gore but I think his talents and qualities pale in comparison to Bradley's. FYI tbo88, your arrogance is off putting. You fill find your ideas more persuasive and better accepted if you are a little more humble.

As much as I enjoyed the interview with Mr. Bradley, I am still waiting for Charlie to interview from farther outside of the box. The show continues with its same list of insiders fomenting the same view of America in some sort of transition rather than the financial overthrow of our democracy into our current oligarchy. The evidence is obvious yet the show's guests have uttered not a single word. Perhaps the editor of Adbusters Magazine would be a good place to start.

“Unless we’re willing to do something about money in politics, we’re not going to have a political process that addresses the real concerns of the American people.”
I am with you.

The fact that he says that we are not yet at the Civil War point of disagreement is scary in itself.
Since he is thinking about this perhaps he should focus here rather than simply tell us that "We can do better".

He says to use a fulcrum of 25 people in the Congress to control it.
The Tea Party does this now and that is why the Republican leadership has lost control of its party and little can get done. Our new fulcrum tells us it is their way or the highway.

Yes, 'We are in two wars and China is playing the long game.'
However, China is financing those wars so we are one.

Ok, none of you have a clue or are really paying attention, especially token anne4444. Go back and listen to what Bill Bradley said. BO took a soaring idealism and tried to put it into a culture that Washington is not accustomed too. Bingo! Not one person can go in and change Washington. Isn't going to happen, probably never will. I am fine with that. That is exactly what happened after he was elected. Even BO got caught up in being elected back in 2008. It was even too much for him to handle. The swarm of everyone wanting him to change DC all by himself. Not enough sergeants, lieutenants, etc. It is up to us to assist. Not expect one person to do it alone. What Bradley means is, that it takes a real team to do it together and not expect the star to carry us. That's why BO has struggle at times. Not only that, he doesn't talk to the right enough. Pick up the phone, BO, you may win some votes sometime. You don't work hard enough. Get it together!

He tells us, '$1.8T in cash on the corporate books. If they spend 20% of this and hire at $49K per employee (median pay) then unemployment is 5%.'
Charlie, I am trying to validate this claim.
Neeraj Chaudhary says, up to $1 trillion of the cash held by US companies sits outside American borders.
He also says that according to the most recent Flow of Funds report published by the Federal Reserve, US corporations have approximately $7.3 trillion in outstanding debt; the oft-quoted $2 trillion of cash sitting on corporate balance sheets pales by comparison. If borrowing costs were to rise, corporations would need every dollar of their available cash to keep from going under.

So then is the $1.8T real?

The world itself behind the veil is a beautiful place with 100% justice. Because it does not serve itself, it is immortal, so are our souls.
Blame on the slow pace of our science if we still have not understood our universe.
REMant 05/09/2012 12:10 PM Report
I can't agree with much of his prescription. Just the part about gerrymandering and tax reform. But Charlie interrupted him so much I really have little idea what he thinks (altho he has been on several times before). I suppose the reason cos are sitting on cash, apart from the very useful "sterilization" provided, is that they know they can't compete wage-wise with foreign competitors, not any paucity of confidence or hope, and while depreciation may redress this, it also appears to widen, not lessen, the gap between owners and labor, haves and have-nots.
History would suggest, tho, that great nations are built not for gain, but to glorify God, a concept to which it seems we, at the moment, are strenuously opposed, our sense of worth distorted by expectations of just deserts in this world or the next. But they are products of simple piety. You can call this confidence or hope if you want, but St Paul didn't. Nor Adam Smith, a fact his friend David Hume felt obliged to defend in his eulogy, for the church of his day felt him irreligious in opposing acts of "charity." Nor is it why ppl flock to mega-churches, which I believe is to find a sense of community never lost, because it never existed, and is rather a creation of a world lacking the faith of our fathers.
