Nine steps can be shortened to one step: Marry and be kept by a wealthy African American media icon

Now I understand why Oprah likes him. He is confident in himself and has no agenda for her.

I bid him best of luck on his book. Sounds like an interesting one.

One wonders if Mr Stedman knows exactly what he is talking about when he has a penchant for stringing $5 buzz words together in succession. It is obvious that he has some rudimentary understanding of some things, but one is not going to spend the time trying to figure out exactly what they are. Mr Stedman in the end sounds like just any other banal, pop psychologist, snake oil selling, guru.

If one were going to take a stab at what Mr Stedman was talking about one would go down the the road that people are myopic and only see the day to day aspects of their lives without ever seeing the long view or trajectory of their lives.

On the surface alike, Mr Graham seems to have taken a quite opposite tack from Mr Langella, and found a quite different sort of success. I believe, incidentally, he basically wrote this book 15 years ago, and has dated Oprah for 25. But it is only recently that, as some tabloids allege, Oprah has found reason in poor ratings to marry him, and that he has published another book on the same subject. I think I can see tho why they are fond of each other.

I have no idea what his nine steps to Nirvana are, but education which attempts to teach set skills and grades them in a competitive environment, is education for factory work. It is not only not learner-centric, it is not learning-centric. On the other hand, the so-called "self-actualization," of many of Dewey's successors, which doesn't deal with reality, is no better, parts company with progressive education's founder, and will accomplish no more to close this country's intelligence deficit. There is only one to educate ppl, and that is to let them learn, which is what all good scientists do. We should not be after products to sell, or sales success, but sufficient and competent ppl, which is, in fact, what Goldstein and Maslow meant.
