This 'discussion' was most disappointing. We had the two authors of the book Game Change and three of those involved in the scripwriting and production of the film. They all sung of the same hynm sheet. This film is to say the least 'controversial'. Why was there no one on the panel to question the accuracy of the book, not to mention the film. Are we really expected to believe that the scriptwriter interviews 25 people close to Palin's campaign? Who were these people? Name them! Are they prepared to go public. So far of the nine people who have publicly commented on this film seven have utterly repudiated it in the stronest terms. John McCain has repudiated it as a false narrative. Does any of that matter to Charlie Rose? Even if they were not present for the discussion could not Charlie Rose at least have articulated their objections? Isn't that what professional interviewers are supposed to do? Could Rose not have asked the producers to compare and contrast the Palin depicted in Game Change with the woman depicted in the Undefeated?

The producer at one stage say that the film is synmpathic to Palin and--wait for it--"humanises her". Now blow me down! just whose bright idea was it that Palin needed to be "humanised". Except perhaps to counter the vitriolic assault on her which used de-humanisation as their central technique.

Apart from the specific errors and distortions in the film, there is one simple test of the overall veracity of this production. Palin is depicted as close to breakdown during the prep for the Vice-Presidential debate, at one stage curling up into a foetal position. Over 70m people watched that debate and it can still be viewd on Utube. Does anyone with any honesty and intelligence believe that the confident vivacious woman that went toe to toe with joe Biden is remotely like the woman depicted in the film?

What clearly put Obama in the WH was the economic meltdwon in the fall of 08. The difference in vote count was 6%, 53% Obama and 47% McCain. That means that just a 4% swing in vote count the other weay would have put McCain into the WH. To think that 4% of the vote was NOT persuaded by the BIGGEST ECONOMIC DIASTER since the Great Depression to vote against McCains inept handling and association with Bush/Republican polices is absurd. Therefore Palin on the ticket or off the ticket was not a determining factor.

      Sarah Palin is hot.

I see her in that photograph (available on the internet) in her college dorm room. She is sitting on a bed wearing that tight T-shirt that says: "I may be broke but at least I am not flat busted". (Hubba-hubba)

Sarah was and is for men--she does not bring in the independent woman vote for Republicans. If only she were blond she could have a job on Fox News for life.

McCain made a blunder but it was a blunder that gave us both eye candy and comedy. For this I am grateful.

I think we knew all of this before the book was written, and I think if Lieberman or Pawlenty had been the veep, McCain would have done just as poorly, if not worse. He flubbed the economy from the start, despite having better advisors than Obama, and he was lucky he wasn't forced to start sounding like Goldwater. His debate performance was abysmal. Frankly I was surprised he did as well as he did, and I have to chalk that up to antipathy for his opponent. In retrospect I'm glad I didn't vote for either. A lot of ppl wonder how Palin could have even been governor. But a lot more ppl didn't seem to care about it.

There's no one, incidentally, I can think of who could materially help Romney's candidacy, assuming he would join the ticket. But I wouldn't be surprised if she were a woman. Maybe Oprah. Oh, I'm forgetting...Barbara Eden, then. Well, maybe Scott Brown? On the other hand, someone may yet prove Obama wasn't born here. (Seriously, ppl are now saying what was released by Hawaii was not a scan of the original document, and that immigration records for the relevant period have mysteriously disappeared.)
