One can always learn something from Kissinger so long as one understands he is not necessarily giving an objective report but rather saying what he wants others to believe. His cautionary stance as to the outcome of the 'Arab spring' seems to me wise, and also his criticism of the Administation for throwing Mubarrak so hastily under the bus. Charlie Rose somehow stopped him when he began to talk about the Islamist turn of the Arab spring, and its likely negative consequences for the United States in the Middle East.

So he tells us that Gaddafi was engaged in a number of acts that were unforgivable but he still had tolerable relations with the West.
Isn't that so Henry Kissinger?
Who will be our next Christopher Hitchens?

This middle class thing is problematic.
Kissinger says they protest the lack of transparency in Russia.
The President of Mexico says their middle class now has money for drugs so they aren't all be shipped to America anymore.
Thank God ours is on the way out, huh?

Talked to Putin?
What about Mikhail Prokhorov?
He owns the Nets, is the third richest man in Russia and is also running for President.

I could understand him and the person doing closed captioning could too!
I pray he did finally see "The King's Speech", and if not, at least he is better at energizing his vocal stream.

1. Gelles. don't know about your age. but i wished more americans have the wisdom like yours.
2. ZBIGNIEW BRZEZINSKI once commented that problem with America is overwhelming majority of americans are very ignorant of the world outside of them. they don't read history, if they do, it is a very narrow version of US history presented one sided, they don't read geography. they feel the american way is the only way and if other countries don't accept our way......this is a dangerous mindset in a world where U.S. no longer the center...

The question is not what did Dr K learn from Mr Putin, but what did Mr Putin learn from Dr K? Mr Putin seems to venerate the octogenarian as both a set of eyes and ears into the sentiment of the USA but also as the wise old grandfather. Mr Putin may be making a mistake in thinking that by talking to Dr K he is also talking to the decision makers in America and that his words will be telegraphed and heeded by the current crop of seat warmers in DC.

Kissinger has the worst voice in the world, I can't understand anything he says. They should provide subtitles everytime he speaks, ridiculous.

Russia's nuclear missile power is equal to our own. Russia's literature, music, dance, sports and entertainment, scientific, and humanitarian Christian and secular values, are closer to parallel Anglo- Franco- American values than others. Historically, we and Russia are the cultures that destroyed and reformed their German enemies. In short, Russia, democratic Europe, and America (North and South) ought to be tight friends. Add to these billions of Caucasians and Mixed race peoples, the Chinese, Indian, democratic Asians who were our allies against Hitler and Nazi forces in WW II, and democratic Japan, and we have six billion allies on earth, whose points of contention are mainly ideological (roughly haves versus have-not's).
Creating Treaty Organizations between these six billion ought to be our first order of business.
Opposing these billions are a billion Muslims with lots of oil and money and very few weapons of mass destruction. These people should be stripped of all nuclear weapons and terrorists organizations. This should be accomplished with near-zero cost in lives and property, by diplomacy and commando raids.
Why do current events not point in this direction?
Because America, Russia, China, India and Europe do not see the world as I describe it. They see opportunity for war and profit on a smaller scale, where corruption and trafficking are more attractive than diplomacy, scholarship and peace.
If there were no Muslims, the situation would be the same. Human Nature looks for competition and conflict as the best way to express its deepest desires.
Also, we have raised micro- and macro- economics above logistical science as the religion of the elites. This is a sad mistake that requires immediate correction.
Henry Kissinger is a student of political conflict. He will not lead us to logistical science to end poverty or to the sweetness and light required to end conflict. He is more historian than prophet. History tends to imprison those who know it well.
Kissinger, Rose and I will soon be dead. Younger fools will carry on.

So now we see Rose browbeating Henry Kissinger over Libya, when they're supposed to be talking about Putin, or at worst the Russian position on Syria or Iran. Earlier Friday I witnessed the Aljazeera anchor leading his guest to condemn violence in Homs, followed by another condemning the Komen foundation. Sounded like a Congressional hearing. Something of this sort is routine now on the networks, even the vaunted BBC. The Wash Post has made it a specialty. All thanks to the Internet?
Once again, I read the votes Putin lost were gained by the Communists, not by the middle-class, and that ballot-stuffing had little to do with the result. Is that NOT true?
