Yes, the British weren't the first at either pole, but they did win WWI (more or less) so I'm not sure I quite understand the manner in which that war may have motivated this quest. According to legend anyway, the war was a rationale for apathy. I can understand, of course, a disdain for hardship and death coming out of it. That was, if I recall correctly, the premise of The Deer Hunter. No doubt it is recognized in cases of PTSD. Too, creativity may arise from action, it may be spurred by deprivation, but it is certainly not "created" by it. If that were the case all the Nobel prize recipients would be saints. Fellow seems to have a very good command of his text, which suggests either a lot of editing and proofreading, or a lot of interviews.

The Middle East mess continues: Israeli/Arab conflict persists; Iranian mimicry of North Korean nuclear weapons ploy persists; Syrian murders by Assad dictatorship persist; and Arabian democracy's ultimate direction remains in doubt.

Global logistical and financial futures remain out of balance: Chimerica's potential to supply both jobs and products in superabundance to global supply chains to enrich the poor in both nations (and revolutionize global production, distribution, consumption, and sustainable wealth creation) remains undeveloped; a new financial model, built to fit global logistical systems and sustainable goals,) is not fleshed out in words, numbers and diagrams; etc.

War, violence and terror, including bio- and nuclear-threats, are not paramount drivers of new systems to destroy their own economic and psychopathic roots. We need cradle to grave ankle bracelets to prevent terrorist, criminal and political activities from spoiling societal tendencies to be fair, just, wise and cool instead of evil or criminally negligent.

Every living person is ENTITLED by his and her creator to earn a living and live in peace. They are entitled by their scientific brethren to all the help to avoid sickness and accident that can save them from ill effects as possible.

New models of output-based motivational and money systems are called for. No financial system should offer wealth beyond its real output. Nor should it offer less than that.

Unemployment is an unwanted curse and all obligations to repay debt in money must be fair and favorable to that end. Peonage, serfdom, slavery and debt are forbidden to the extent they do not raise minimum and median wages and wealth as much as possible. All great wealth is held in trust to promote the public interest and the private right to life, liberty and virtue.

Language and law are models of things and may not be used enslave people to other people. Continuous simplification and clarification of language, law and modeling must be undertaken to spread knowledge, know-how and virtue to all people all their lives.

Disagreement between humans is natural and acceptable. Progress from disagreement to agreement, sometimes temporary, is necessary. The quest for improvement of results is unending -- as must be the desire of each of us to be unselfish and modest in our relations with other people. Do to and think of others as you would have them do to you. Look for and obey the rules that that result in virtue not in vice.

The universe is infinite and so are its rules and models. Memory is less. To assist our memory to know the rules and models we have invented artificial intelligence with infinite promise. We call on it to build this form of idealism in a variety of ways. The ones we use the most will come along on purpose and by chance. Let this be one , as perfected by you -- not necessarily me.
