Ariel Sharon was one of the greatest heroes of modern Jewish history. His actions were central and decisive in many crucial battles of Israel. Time and again he showed remarkable courage and boldness, and what some seem not to realize, genius- like inventiveness. He more than anyone else created the Israel battlefield doctrine of 'After me' in which Israeli officers always led their men into the most dangerous part of the battlefield. Whether it was in the War of Independence at Latrun, or in the actions against the Fedayeen before the Sinai campaign, whether in the Six Day War or in the critical crossing in Yom Kippur he time and again was the decisive leader. His story however also its underside, and from Ben - Gurion on Sharon was criticized for not following the rules, and misleading to get his own way.
Ariel Sharon has been in a coma for six years. His son Gilad is his champion and wishes to defend his father. But Gilad has his own agenda also, which does not really come up on the Charlie Rose show.
The interview is small and incomplete, and barely touches upon the achievements of Sharon and the questions raised by his actions, including the controversial withdrawal from Gaza which was his last major political act.
Unfortunately the real story cannot even be hinted at in a small interview of this kind.

The world knows that this man's father is a war criminal and terrorist, responsible for numerous atrocities against the Palestinian Arabs and Lebanese, not to mention the Israeli government policies concerning the creation of Jewish settlements in Palestinian lands that continue to this day. This man's attempt to propagandize his father as benevolent human being is ridiculous.
