Charlie, here are some more examples of the low quality of the US mainstream media.

Charlie, it is possible that you actually believe the stuff that you are reporting on many of these programs when you talk with your guests about the Middle East, Russia, and Asia, since you must be surrounded with that kind of material and people who report to the public that stuff provided by the Pentagon.

You might learn something that you don't know by watching this video:

Pepe Escobar: The reset between US and Russia is over – December 8, 2011

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBz-C0stJ4U

Hillary Clinton has publicly criticized the elections in Russia saying the US has serious concerns about the conduct of the election. But Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has fired back by saying the US should not pour cash into their country to try to influence other nation's elections. How is the US trying to change the political landscape in Russia? Pepe Escobar, correspondent for Asia Times, joins us to investigate.

The clip of Assad with Barbara Walters--did anyone else think his responses came from the Iranian play book?

Let us not forget what happened to Lara Logan in Cairo:

Logan: And I stayed there (hospital in Washington) for four days, which was hard. My muscles were so unbelievably sore, because they were literally stretched from the mob trying to tear my limbs off my body. My joints, every joint in my body was distended. And then they, the more intimate injuries, the injuries, the tearing inside. And the mark of their hands, their fingers all over my body, cuts and everything you could imagine. But no broken bones.

Charlie, I understand that the US mainstream media is not allowed to broadcast the real news:

Charlie here is the real news regarding what is going on in the Middle East and regarding Russia, Pakistan, Iran, and China:

A week ago I watched another video from Webster Tarpley, he was traveling inside Syria, and he mentioned the name of all the towns that he had visited in the last few days, and he saw first hand what is happening inside Syria and he repeated about the same information that gave on this other video tape. He confirmed all the events that he mentioned on that tape.

Charlie your interview with Clarissa Ward looked more like a propaganda against Syria than anything else.

Charlie, I know that this is part of the game about trying to destabilizing the Syrian government, and that you have to play along with the rest of the US mainstream media. I have seen this movie many times before. I understand why Americans still fall for that kind of cheap propaganda, they are used to watch that stuff all the time on American TV, and that's why the US mainstream media today is more discredited than even those fools (members) from the US Congress.

Thanks to the foreign media we still can get some news of actually is going on, instead of the make believe news presented by the US mainstream media.

Today the US mainstream media is not doing their job about just about anything, they are only a vehicle to deliver entertainment, and cheap propaganda.

Tarpley: Snipers are Randomly Shooting at Syrian Civilians to Create Instability

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fiBRjc0J88

Webster Tarpley speaks from Damascus and he has been to cities like Homs and his conclusion is that there is NO civil war. There are snipers who fire at civilians to create chaos and instability in Syria.

These snipers are mainly from abroad and have been brought in by the secret services like the Mossad, the CIA and MI6, including the support of the Saudi and Qatari Dictator Regimes.

Al-Jazeera is again the master media-manipulator venting stories of Syrian army people who would have defected, whereas Tarpley has spoken to many people in Syria who want to army to come and help them get rid of the Death Squads who bring nothing but chaos and murder.

Clarissa Ward is to be commended for her courage and enterprise in entering Syria and speaking with opponents of the regime. She naturally focuses on the desire for freedom, the desire of ordinary citizens to be able to speak their mind without fear. But she and Charlie Rose do not provide us with in-depth analysis of the situation there. We do not know exactly who the opposition- forces are. She speaks of Alawites among the opposition, but generally the commentary has been that the large Sunni majority intends to overthrow Alawite minority rule. She also does not speak of the Syrian- Iranian alliance and the help the regime is getting from that direction. Nor does she speak about the Russian role in supplying the Syrians with advanced weaponry and helping sustain the regime. Nor do we get any real picture of the size and scope of opposition forces, and what their chances are. It would be interesting to know if Ward favors the 'no-fly-zone option' and European and American intervention to overthrow the regime.

    9. tabs  12/08/2011 03:34 PM Report

If there was an award in Journalism for having Balls OF Brass, MS Ward would certainly win it. Whether it was courageous, foolhardy or ambitious to travel into the jaws of lion is hard to determine. One didn't need to go to Syria to determine that the "Kid" Assad was not the final arbiter of power in Syria. To say that this is a Civil War as defined by having two opposing factions battle out the political determination of the nation is a misnomer. Rather it is more of a Rebellion of the population against an embedded ruling elite that has proved to be onerous to the will of the greater number of the people of that nation.

Repressed anger and fear at some point in time becomes explosive and violent as people no longer care about their fear and thus tolerate that state of affairs. Therefore there is a very real potential for Syria to explode into an armed rebellion which will result in a blood bath. In the end the greater numbers will prevail.

The outcome of said rebellion and the path the people of Syria chose may not and most likely will take, is a path that is not exactly to the liking of the west. This is also true of the path that Egypt and other Arab Spring nations will take.

    10. REMant  12/08/2011 11:46 AM Report

Liberals and neocons would still have us believe the situation in Syria is the same as in Eastern Europe, or something even more idealistic. I see no point in pulling a yellow journalism stunt like this, when the outcome is certainly predetermined. The same can be said for Barbwa Wawa's Assad interview. Assad most likely is not in charge, as he has said. So what good does it do to try to make him the goat? How would our president or his political party like to be blamed for everything this country does or happens in it? The chances are this will result in a civil war, not a revolution, and overwhelming that the result will be no more friendly to Western interests than the present regime. And I think the West knows this, no matter their propaganda, and overwhelming favor the Sunnis. I simply don't buy the notion that the West is only interested in self-determination. One can only wonder what they will say when the Saudi royal family and the other emirs and sheiks are thrown out.
