      Beautifully handled interview with Ms. Didion. She seemed to be such a fragile baby bird, and was handled with delicacy and kindness.

      Parents must, of course, belittle their children in this wonderful nation of ours to properly discipline them, usually accomplished by making them feel they can't or need not do anything for themselves. But there is always a chance the child will turn to drugs or suicide, and/or in a precious few cases tell the parents where to get off. I don't know, however, whether the latter should feel more ashamed at their loss or their failure.
