The President of the USA is was elected by people from outside Africa Partly as a gesture of their non-racist ideology. They also thought he had demonstrated intellectual superiority relative to his opponent. His opponent, John McCain, had declared that he was not expert on the economy -- which is what many voters wanted to run the country at this hour.
They wanted an expert and I believe they did not get one. I believe, this time around, Jon Huntsman is not more appealing on account of race -- but may be more appealing if we want a better economic artist than we have.

Why no mainstream media coverage of Pew's latest report documenting
media's withering negative scrutiny of this president? Why is and has, America's fear of the other, especially black men, and any discussion of the current and past racial realities been ignored and factually blackballed in every mainstream arena? Even on the boob tube the newest big thing is a nostalgic return to the good ol days of Beaver Cleaver and the lily white universe. How can this society ever surmount its many shortcomings by closing its eyes and wishing away the cancer at the root of our original sin; racism, racial genocide and our fear of resolving this national stain finally and justly.

The voice we hear most often doesn't make a sound. It's the way we think alone talking silently to ourself in real words and in real time. And it's rarely ever funny. Professional comics are an exception.
To be funny we mostly have to talk out loud to another person. But a real comedian can be funny writing or talking to himself for an extended time.
Calvin is a professional comic for cerebral readers. He is the funny man we want when we think lesser minds are dumb or dumber and not funny.
The modest comedian who makes fun of himself not other people is very often very funny. Don Rickles is the other kind -- he's mad at you and you both like it.
REMant is never funny. And he's not wise. He's even no good. Yet,HE thinks he's good -- and even funny when he chooses.
How do you explain that? REMant judges the funniness, fairness and wisdom of other people -- but he is not on my side when it really counts -- when we have to rate one idea over another or not.
Chawlynose picks a funny name and writes a funny line at will, any time at all. He's a pro.
CR is funny too. His smile is as wide as the Mississippi. And if you doubt me, just look at him any time at all. He will be laughing on TV, Internet or real stage. Why not? A good laugh is worth a million bucks sometimes. Especially if its the last instant a body knows.

Great guests, including Trillin, recently. Thanks.
However, I'm afraid this good run will mean some inevitable upcoming "For the Hour" shows with people who are good at hitting balls into little holes in the ground or lofting them into overhead hoops.

Yeah, this guy is about as funny as Dennis Miller doing Monday Night Football; or pretty much anything else he ever did.
But he does a good Bob Newhart impersonation.

His comedy is a dry, less stimulating comedy. The alert level has to be much greater for me or I dose off several times (as I did).
However, "O.J. oy vey" (his shortest poem was great) and he nailed it with "Sabbath Gas Bags" for Sunday morning talk shows.
REMant 11/02/2011 12:33 PM Report
Since comedy is a response to something, all a comedian really has to do is to make a face. But real comedy is self-deprecating, which, from this interview, I'd be led to believe Mr Trillin doesn't very often engage in.
