Why not leave all the eager to know how the architects create and pay some attention to the actual "performance" of the building in present, at site and as a model to architectural production. Its a total drain to keep discussing how you see Koolhaas and how you think he does his work. There has never been a lack of alternative projects to the mainstream, and the richness of the worldwide production has never been more exposed. To let Koolhaas, and his knowledge of the automatic nature of the discussion following his statements, actually provoke you with sayings like "nobody talks about" and "this model (his own) is a perfect solution", is not knowing the methods of Koolhaas. You should know..

Miad, I don't think architects try to hide secrets through design, but just the opposite. A good architect will take the opportunity to reveal something about beauty that hasn't been revealed through any prior work. It is very site specific and very purposefully intentional. That's what makes it memorable.
The problem is that not many are willing to see what the architect sees in the first place. And not many architects are consumed with the idea of finding beauty when they have to please so many with the cash in hand and ego agendas to satisfy. These are the run of the mill architects.

At first we talked about form, really believe me that we could not stand playing with form and after that we gave it up.Then we tried to be more wise that the usage of form maybe is very old-fashioned so that we tried to have some fun like works of Frank g but nowadays we are sick and tired of this kind of design.Which of them helped us to be a powerful human undoubtly none of them.

All of way of building a building in some way are just allocated to our opinion,we creat but more than that creating ourselves to get the power. To be honest when a building is trying to illustrate truth of design,in fact attempting to hide a secret.

Actually my english is not very understanding but I please you take your time and focus on my saying.Architecture on nowadays or before that does not have to do with the real nature of architecture espically in works of Mr.Rem Koolhaas. In my point of view a building is bound to sort of express the base of life based on a lie,I mean, architecture should be inclined to lie,and by that attract people to get into a game named life.We get confused ourselves by some expression that is in vain. Please Mr.Koolhaas add a lie to your design to be a true man.Thank you.

I attended a conference some years back about the preservation of the oasis in North Africa, and how difficult it has become to keep those areas working because people, especially the harvesters of dates, leave the place to go to the urban areas for work. Probably the best option is to keep those places as culturally protected areas with some government subsidy.People will stay as long as tourism and local industry can provide a livelihood for the community.

Some people think about the country.
I'm an architect and i do. I started a thesis about it (that is on hold) and i also found that that the country dinamics are much more complex that we think it is, because we are stuck in the vision that "we" had when "we" leave the country and we create a romantic vision about it, but the reality is different, like cities and because of it the country is also changing, constantly!
So we have to start thinking about it, really thinking, because like Koolhas said people are living the country for the big cities, so what is going to happend? In Portugal even the smaller cities located in the country side are loosing people and the people are going mostly to the metropolitan areas of Lisbon and Oporto. Why is that? Jobs! They are going after jobs that they think are going to giving them a better live. I know lots of cases. And that are giving us an off-balance world, and chaotic cities.
And there is much more to tell…i'm glad that Rem Koolhas is thinking about it.

Many times I have wondered whether the architecture built by starchitects in the last 15 yrs. will have the kind of permanence to make them truly iconic structures or whether they will be dismissed as passing achievements in the race for what Mr. Koolhaas calls "performance"
In the case of the CCTV building, that one will most likely become iconic because it was one of the earliest of its kind in China and it made it in news all around the world. Will others be remembered as well as this one? I doubt it.

Ram Koolhas..brilliant. CCTV Building...disjointed

I visited Expo '70 in Osaka and wasn't extremely impressed. The CCTV building looks pretty non-functional to me. How it "performs" for the Chinese I couldn't say, but it does seem strangely like a caricature of some word in their language, or maybe ancient timber-framing. I did, however, like the Cornell building a lot better, and it clearly performs the task of an addition to buildings not easily added to.
