      oops, wrong show.

    2. doodee  10/02/2011 11:53 PM Report

President Obama is turning out to be a Terrorist's worst nightmare. I wonder what problems republicans and so-called 'conservatives' would have about that. tisk tisk

Of course his liberal base is frazzled, but they're always frazzled; So who cares what they think?. I know I don't.

    3. robdverity  10/02/2011 04:35 PM Report

Look closer. Christie's disgustingly obesiant. No one with an ounce of personal pride would do that to himself.

    4. zb1  10/01/2011 07:55 PM Report

Listening to your guests was like listening the crew of the titanic argue who was going to be the new captain without talking about what they would actually do to keep the ship they ran into an iceberg from sinking.

Disappointed in you Charlie for letting this circle jerk talk about which fool they are going to run as opposed to what any of them actually stand for.

The amount of hot air expended on whether Christie should/will/could fill a balloon the size of Christie.

PS. Would somebody please put JW - the philandering former head of GE - into the out house where he belongs.

PSS. Charlie, think about this: in a world run by these guys you would not exist.

    5. John_W  10/01/2011 02:40 PM Report

Rose does this so well, hosting conservative idiots honing their talking points and trying to convince each other their imaginary world really exists.

Rose shows a tape of Christie accusing Obama of poor leadership because the Republicans repeatedly threatened to close down the government if they don't get THEIR way ... which is to defund & demolish the government. That's all Obama's fault. This is what the GOP is selling voters - with M$M's help (Hey Charlie, how many times have you said 'filibuster' or 'filibuster by amendment' in the last two years? Huh?).

Yeah right, they are begging Christie to run "because they see they have a real opportunity to beat Obama" -- it's NOT because they know that they have a platoon of idiots running who all will lose to Obama by double digits. The one who could make it "close" - i.e. lose by 4 pts, Romney, they can't stand because he sounds too rational; not screw-ball enough.

Conservatives love talking to each other to firm up their depiction of the imaginary world they console themselves with.

All the GOPers potential candidates are talking defund and downsize Government (deregulation on steroids) and more tax tricks to over-burden the Middle Class to the benefit of Corporations and the most wealthy. This is the exact same formula they used in Cheney's regime - and will bring us the same results - weak aggregate demand, slow growth and another TRICKLE DOWN-DEREGULATION DISASTER. Why do they think the same policies will get different results? --- easy, because they don't think.

Obama is doing something wrong? Or he is not a great president? Do we forget what state the country was in when Obama took over from Republican Bush? Obama saved the country from the Republican Bush lead depression. Obama has saved the country, Terrorist captured, stock market rebound, what has he not done? Listening to these guys is reaffirming my reelection of Obama. Please realize the mess the republican party has caused and the tremendous rebuild that is going on right now. Do not go off of these opinions of these republicans hard heads! When you place your votes go off of facts. Statistics, economic numbers and indicators from bush to Obama. Over whelming in favor of Obama! OVER WHELMING. should i say it again! We need to stay the course to get us out of this hole! We are coming right out of it! Oh gosh America do not make the mistake again and go with big business, money hungry, haleburton, republican exploitation of America! We are not in a strong position like after the Clintion administration. Clinton was in for two years and see how strong America was. Reelect Obama, so we can regain that strength. Remember who is obama's secretary of state is. Clinton. Obama YES, republicans NO. I do not not want China taking over.

... straight from the 'Dick Morris Handbook'

so I can't take credit; I just pay attension

    10. doodee  09/30/2011 05:01 PM Report

Preacher robd, I'm surprised at you. Actually Not. heh

    11. doodee  09/30/2011 04:57 PM Report

Obama's war on terrorism so far has been a smashing Success, if all he does is Graceously accept the Simpson/Bowles Method of Cutting Expenses (and Give them Full Credit as so deserved (No Politics);). The People that matter (the unpolitical type and small business) will Accept his Offer to Straighten out the Inequities and Corruption Lobbyied into the tax code. Theoretically, Both actions will go a long way to reducing the deficit, but probably realisticly won't do a damn bit of good at reversing the perverse incentives and moral hazard cancers Lobbyied into the Economy. But that's pretty much the way Big Business wants to keep it. And Obama will remain President, because any chance of republicans counter-attacking that Action will make them look even more Foolish than they Aready are.

    12. robdverity  09/30/2011 04:53 PM Report

His weight alone says (chuckle) volumes. Obesity and responsibility (for yourself - let alone a nation) does not mix. He's a loser -> because he's a gainer.

Fat people are self-indulgent pigs. Thus self-serving by definition. Lobby fodder!

    13. doodee  09/30/2011 04:14 PM Report

Well, let's hear what Mr. Christy's 'plan' is to get the economy and Employment Back. 'Simpson/Bowls' IS a good start (rejecting it WAS Obama's BIGGEST MISTAKE).

Like eating a hotdog, we'll just won't think about what he's made of (Thank you, Mr. Mant),- "He was for a time a business lobbyist, his wife is a banker and his brother a trader,...He obtained his appointment as district attorney as a result of being a Bush fundraiser.", - pretty disgusting, but hey, what the hell.

Who's he going to put first, America or his family; That's why he WON'T run. .. Should have supported, Buddy Roemer, Republicans. But hey, you are what you are.

    14. tabs  09/30/2011 03:36 PM Report

Mr Rose said it when describing Governor Christie, Mr Dowd said it when talking about Romney but didn't even realize he said it. The question about Romney is his AUTENTICITY. Why does Romney WANT TO BE PRESIDENT is the question one has been asking all along. One has compared Mr Romney to Robbie the Robot from Lost In Space in is his plasticity and lack of authenticity. If one were to remember Mr Romney's father Governor George Romney (MI) bid for the Presidency back in 67 (leading in the Polls) UNTIL his famous quip about the reason why he changed his mind about supporting the war in Vietnam as being "the military had BRAINWASHED him into thinking that the Vietnam war could be won." This quip effectively ended his credibility and his campaign. This leads one to believe that it is more of a family trait than just one of Mr Romney's alone. Thus the question becomes does America want or need another President that expresses the flavor of the day to get elected rather than a set of core principles to operate under?

As for Mr Christie being "ready" the greatest thing that he can bring to the Presidency is his pragmatic problem solving METHOD. From what one can see Mr Christie unravels a problem, laying it out and getting to its essential core in a straight forward no nonsense fashion. Thus while no one is really ready to step into the Oval Office, Mr Christy's problem solving ability would serve him and America well.

I like this program a lot and watch it regularly, but have fewer guests on at one time. This would produce a better, tighter conversation that produced more substantive comments.

    16. SharkswithfrikingLazers  09/30/2011 12:09 PM Report

      Sorry, I missed something.

How did Jack Welch get into this group?

He speaks frequently of what his friends think. So does he represent American plutocracy?

By the way Charlie, have you been following GE? As one of our corporate "Persons" GE kinda sucks (no taxes, jobs overseas) and as a company working for their shareholders their return really sucks over the last decade (except for Warren Buffet who makes his own deals and gets his own return).

Perhaps invite Jack back and ask him about this?

    17. SharkswithfrikingLazers  09/30/2011 11:56 AM Report

      This definition says it nicely:

christie or christy n. , pl. , -ties . A usually high-speed ski turn used for changing the direction of descent or stopping, performed by shifting.

The Daily Show nailed it again:

    18. REMant  09/30/2011 11:22 AM Report

I have heard Christie on talk shows and he is articulate, like Ron Paul, but, unlike Paul, I do not have a handle on his basic philosophy except that he is for Simpson-Bowles, and that's a start, but his record doesn't show much intellectual involvement. He was for a time a business lobbyist, his wife is a banker and his brother a trader, and if Wall St is for him I'd certainly have second thoughts. He obtained his appointment as district attorney as a result of being a Bush fundraiser. Tho he did compile a record fighting corruption, he was accused of his own, which may be a reason why he feels he cannot run.

If the Bush camp turns out to be behind this effort, as it appears to be, I for one will not vote for him regardless of what Mr Welch thinks, and I doubt Christie will win nomination, or the presidency if he does. But I will predict that if he turns down the opportunity to run now and Obama is re-elected he will be blamed for it, and shunned if he tries four years later, and if another Republican is elected, he will likely have to wait eight more years, which may well be too late. Incidentally, I can't see what Mr Welch has against the present president. He has done virtually everything Wall St has asked. That's undoubtedly why he is even on this program. I doubt very much we will ever see Gov Perry on it.

I would mention that Ron Paul has been a more consistent favorite of party stalwarts nationwide than any of the candidates mentioned.

I'd also have to say that if Gov Perry thinks no more of Pakistan than he apparently does it might be a very good thing. We need a good governor right now, not a Beltway insider. Liberality and profligacy goes with the latter as Barroso illustrated again the other day, made possible by central banks. Ppl who live within budgets live in smaller jurisdictions, and vice versa.

Taft, BTW, was no lightweight president, but managed okay, and FDR could hardly stand up.
