The interview and his book were frustrating. Wise keeps pointing out how the Chinese spy in a much different way than Russians or Americans, but all of his examples seem to suggest the Chinese conduct espionage similarly. The beach analogy is also really foolish...US national security information is not a public beach that any 'bather' can just walk in to. The only things I've read recently that seem to make sense have been coming out of the Jamestown Foundation's China Brief.

This was an extremely interesting interview. And it raised in my mind questions about what the Media is doing and is focused on. China is at this point the major U.S. competitor in the world and yet the wider media have not reported very much on their spying activities against the U.S. David Wise comes across as a real expert, an old- fashioned investigative journalist who really finds out new information and does not simply circulate his opinions. It would have been interesting to hear his opinion on a whole lot of issues.

To Codymr, Yes several hours ago it stopped at 10 or 11 mins. Just finished watching the episode from beginning to end. Maybe there are times when many people are viewing and the "Flowplayer" can't carry every viewer. This has happen on several other programs in the 3 weeks. Had my computer checked and cleaned thinking that was the probem, glad it wasn't.

David Wise has great stories. I like the way his brain works.
He dresses nice too.
Great guest! Thank you.

For some reason this flash clip hangs at the 4min mark. This happens on both my PC and my Mac and I have tried to watch it at my home office and at work... no luck. This seems to be getting more common with clips I try to view on CR. Does anyone share this issue and does anyone have a fix?

I read a review of this in the Post about a month ago (http://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/books/david-wises-tiger-trap-americas-secret-spy-war-wit h-china/2011/06/08/AGrX1VjH_story.html)
My feeling is if there must be warfare, it is certainly better to wage it at this level. There is at least some honor left in it, if our spy novelists are to be believed.
