Fascinated by the process and possible ramifications of the Supreme Court judging the constitutionality of the health bill in question. Interesting, though, that none of the discussions I have heard have mentioned how those with religous differences will be affected. Conscientious Objectors of the health bill? Could be.

This really speaks to mental health and the lack of it. In Texas, the largest mental health facility is the Harris County Jail.

When people like Laurence Tribe shoulder the responsibility that if successful, could force a government agency to fulfill its mandate to this country and to our wounded military. In bringing this lawsuit he helps focus attention why we don't need big government. Bureaucracies are top heavy in structure so taking action is often delayed beyond normal tolerances, people are hurt unintentionally and wounded warriors who cannot care for themselves are left adrift. It is immoral and inhumane. Mr. Tribe deserves our respect, thank you for having him as your guest.

When I Win the multi-million dollar lottery, I will give at least half of it to American Veteran's organizations and American sick children organizations. It will all stay in America, where it belongs. I'll leave the bigger problems of feeding the HIV in africa to bill and melinda gates and Warren Buffet.

While I don't discount the post-traumatic stuff, I do think the kind of ppl who enlist in the military are not the same as the avg American to begin with, and in many ways you can't expect them to ever fully "reintegrate," even I think many in the Guard and Reserve. It's not like it was with the draft. This ought not be surprising. Before countries conscripted, they routinely ran old soldier's and sailor's homes. We perhaps need to reconfigure the VA from taking minimal care of scads of vets all over the place, to more intensive care for fewer in fewer places. That is, as long as we intend to have an all-mercenary force, which tho I certainly think has its drawbacks.
I don't agree obviously with the professor about the constitutionality of the healthcare legislation. But I would hope this issue could be mooted, before the legal beagles get into it any further, by the adoption by a more sensible single-payer plan, and/or by restoration of the middle-class to a place where they could afford care.
As I've said a few times, I think the states will eventually come to the conclusion they haven't got any business being in the marriage business, just as they did after the Revolution about support for religious establishments.
