I doubt tho if when Qaddafi is gone, which I suppose will happen, it will mark an end to strife, anymore than in Afghanistan, or Yemen. And even if that should happen, as in Russia and Eastern Europe the underlings will likely emerge quite as undemocratic, eventually deposed by another autocrat. Coups are rarely undertaken because the ppl attempting them are bad ppl, but because they believe those in power are, and they are usually right. Unfortunately they rarely believe it of themselves. The real issue in govt is not freedom, but happiness and that is a matter of truth. As Pope wrote "For forms of govt let fools contest; Whate'er is best administered is best. For modes of faith let graceless zealots fight; His can't be wrong whose life is in the right: In faith and hope the world will disagree, But all mankind's concern is charity." Rasmussen, in any case, has already emerged as one of the sleaziest in this melodrama. I don't, BTW, want it thought that I have no consideration for those earnest and idealistic "revolutionaries," many of whom I've observed on the Internet for the past dozen years or so - I do - but I just think there are too many other factors involved in these things, which cannot be discounted. Notice, for instance, the completely different treatment of Saleh the past few days in the liberal media.
