DavLev 06/03/2011 07:16 PM Report
Absolute rubbish again from the Russian Ambassador.
Typically ambivalent, evasive and straddling to Charlie's articulate questioning.
If I were a prosecuting attrney, I would note the sweat
and eye movements of him..betraying all that he was trying to hide.
Egypt's Mubarak was Russia's and our friend for decades..yes autocratic regime..but compare to people before him. He stymied the Muslim Brotherhood and their
radicalism and Islamic goals. The peace with Israel was
maintained ( Egypt got the Sinai back 3 times recall, including the oil and airfields ) after it attacked Israel
Lets remember which country armed Egypt/Syria with Saggers,
Sappers, missile firing ships, land to land missiles.
Regarding Libya, Tunisia, and other M.E. states in termoil,
he admitted that to intervene would just exaccerbate the misery. Tell that to the Muslim states within the Soviet Union that Russia destroyed, wi8thout pity, while leaving little Serbia to defend itself.
Russia is 3 times the size of the US with a pop of over 140m. It is an old diversified country, with natural resources. Yet its economy is totally dependent upon oil.
and is paled in comparison by the US.
Okay, it has thousands of nukes..which give it clout.
It is a dictatorship buys, not much differnet than Libya.
Yet it preaches to Israel, claiming the world demands the return to the prior cease fire lines (which allowed 3 wars started by the countries it supplied.
He compares Syria..to other countries (Libya). Read todays
headlines about Syria is my sugestion to him. The torture of that 13 year old boy is just the tip of the iceberg.
Recall that in the 73War, Syria emasculated captured
Jewish soldiers, before it was defeated. Now Russua has suppled that dictatorship with advanced missiles..Scud Ds.
and defensive (really offensive) missiles.
Russia has builta nuke reactor in Iran, an oil exporting country. It has enhanced Chavez's rule over his people and supplied the dictator with medium range missiles.
If I sre Churkin, I would look in the mirror before
preaching to others on how to protect their security.
It knows that the right of return (5m Muslims) to Israel
means Israel's destruction.
He should reminded that during WW2, 3m Germans invaded
his homeland, killing 25m people before rescued it.
How quickly we forget.

THE RUSSIANS & AFRICAN UNITY HAVE THE RIGHT SOLUTION TO LIBYA AND OTHER COUNTRIES. AMERICAN AS PART OF THE G 8, THE G 8 AND THE WORLD SHOULD LISTEN INSTEAD OF DROP BOMBS AND BULLY.
DEMOCRACY IS NOW THE NEW GLOBAL DICTATOR.

Mr Churkin is a wonderful Russian Ambassador, he says nothing that can't be read in Pravda and as such it is all boiler plate.
REMant 06/03/2011 10:50 AM Report
No one can say Amb Cherkin isn't articulate. What I don't understand is why Medvedev seems to have changed his mind about Qaddafi, but to hear the ambassador their position in these affairs is still essentially the same. As I said above one side seems to think in utilitarian fashion that sovereignty lies simply in a vote, as if religion and ethnicity did not exist, but which ignores the fact that in all utilitarian organizations we know of, the society resembles something more of a Panopticon or a Victorian house than a social unit. The Germans have never held such a doctrine, nor the Russians I think in their hearts, and one wonders if the French have all of a sudden had a change of heart, and hope to see something other than chaos or an Anglo-American satellite arise out of Libya. We've seen nothing but problems from the breakup of the British, Russian-Soviet, Austro-Hungarian empires and colonialism generally. "The People" have to get along, but the question is under what system, one of real self-determination, or multiculturalism.
