That would be 'PAC money'. Political Action Committee Money (Bribes)

John - That's true, Roemer did attend Harvard at the age of 17. He also has been to Asia "and knows what they're up to" too. He also has run successful, honest, small business (small banks that were NOT bailed out), As well was the Governor of Louisiana And a U.S. congressman. He knows how to Deal with Them (BigTime Corruption), I bet BETTER than Huntsman. Is Huntsman taking PAK money?
robdverity 06/04/2011 06:01 PM Report
John - we have come close to suicide already by tolerating the housing CDO scamming WITH IMPUNITY - no one jailed to date.
We need anarchy beginning in NYC (a la Greece). We let big bankers get away with an exorbitant heist that is STILL crushing our ec.
Hank Paulson, Robert Rubin, et al should be keel-hauled beneath their own yachts. Yeah Blankfein incl'd. RE may never FULLY recover.

John Huntsman is "Buddy Roemer" with a real plan to re-industrialize America. Roemer went Harvard. But Huntsman went to Asia and knows what they're up to.
We need an economic intelligence agency to advise the President and the nation of where to invest government debt-free money to create a new arsenal of economic democracy.
We prevented fascism and communism from ending civilization. We must now prevent capitalism from committing suicide.

John,
I don't have a hundred dollars, but if I did; I'd give it to 'Buddy Roemer', because he is the ONLY republican 'potential' President that is Really attempting to tackle the problems that you so eloquently expressed.
Some of your theories may be Beyond meager human comprehension (at this early time in history), but We Have to start somewhere.
"The Presidents since the end of the cold war have invited disaster by failure to finance industrial power, as they permitted rule by most ignorant rich to replace rule by the American People." - who said that?. You said that John. So did Buddy Roemer. Why would somebody even say something like that?. Because it So F-ing True. Buddy Roemer is the ONLY Presidential candidate(God Willing) that IS willing to part with THAT disgusting "charlatan" Anti-American tradition. THAT is the core-evil-seed that spawns all our modern socio-economic problems. Nobody in the media wants to talk about Buddy Roemer, which means they Hope he exits Quietly, because they, the media (the too big to fail Corporate world-eating monsters) want to DEFINE and SET the AGENDA; and taking away their caviar is not part of it.
If not Buddy Roemer, Then Who?
JohnGelles 06/04/2011 11:47 AM Report
I just watched the June 3rd show with Krugman, Rogoff, Bernstein and Rose, admitting America had a jobs deficit that threatened the middle class and the poor, as well putting in doubt vaunted American leadership established after two world wars and the failure of of Marxist-Leninism.
The acceptance by the President and the People of such jobs deficit, which boasts that we have, by design, more mouths to feed than jobs to feed them, is a disgrace to every voter who considers poverty and unemployment as better motivators than more money.
There is no doubt that money alone can create inflation instead of food and other necessities. But, there is also no doubt that economic democracy, with the help of machines to work and think, would prevent counter-productive inflation as it balanced supply to need and demand to supply. Inflation protected savings accounts would replace all but consumption taxes.
Our national defense and homeland security are geared to our industrial power. The Presidents since the end of the cold war have invited disaster by failure to finance industrial power, as they permitted rule by most ignorant rich to replace rule by the American People.
Warren Buffet, a decent rich person, advised us of the essential need for import certificates, if we were to hold on to industrial power. Our Presidents have failed to demand we retain that power or get another president.
Jon Huntsman today talks of a new industrial revolution. He does not offer a means to finance it that would NOT tax productive instruments, public and private, that would employ the people who made such power real. Taxes are strictly to prevent hyperinflation and not to finance what government's monopoly over money can do by itself.
We are in wars for survival of political and economic democracy. If we lose them, the American dream will be lost until such democracies are reborn.
To imagine we need an army of unemployed ignorant losers to motivate winners to stay on the job is to ignore American and other histories of people who rose to the occasion and went to work because they loved it.
It is time for us to turn education into a cousin to the computer based game professionals. The know that people learn more when the teachers and coaches involved use game techniques in place of traditions that leave too many learners out of games they would excel in if we knew how to appeal to their talents. These may be only words -- but everyone knows it is true: turn learning into a game, and novices will flourish under enlightened talented leadership. And, as never before in history, machines that work and think will be able to supplement productive output to raise the minimum standard of living for people unable to produce all their own needs.
Conventional inequality, above a very high minimum standard of living, will be easily tolerated. The day when slavery and wage slavery may have seemed inevitable has past.
Conventional inequality is prized in all competitive games and the arts and sciences. It is responsible for the very rare achievements on which great progress depends. But such inequality is not put in jeopardy today by protecting the honest from the charlatan. Terrorism and fraud are brothers under the skin. But, unless we protect ourselves from fraud, we are likely to fall victim to tyranny, terrorism, corruption and people without appropriate concern for the lives of others.

So the 'ole Mittster' wants to be President, again. aye?. heh heh heh
I think the 'ole Mittster' would be a Great Vice President. And he would enjoy it. He could run around town and woo the crowd with his subtle Reagan impersonations (you know, the happy-go-lucky friendly little voice and confident little head twitches (that I'm sure his wife coaches him on). And most important, the 'RETURN' of Reagan 'AURA' .
So I say, "roll out the red carpet" ,

To prevent further de-industrialization,
a. REAL ESTATE -- government will buy at fair market value, all mortgages on homes that owners need to prevent having to sleep on the street, and hold them until owners can again repay them.
Owners will pay the government what they can afford until they want to sell the protected home. When such homes are sold, government will be repaid from the proceeds of sale the fair market value of the protection it gave.
Protection will end when not needed; and its fair value, if not repaid to government on sale of the property mortgaged will be paid by the protected home-owner when payment is possible.
The cost of offering such protection will be small in comparison with it benefits to the national economy as a whole.
b. JOBS -- government will invest in infrastructure, energy independence, national defense, education, environment, health, other needs of equivalent importance, in all the states and for other American operations, as much money as necessary to prepare for the future and repair the past.
These investments will employ all Americans willing and able to work. They will be paid for by production of all that people buy with their income from work.
To prevent counter-productive inflation from these investments government will establish in lieu of taxes financial planning data processing that keeps supply and demand in balance and savings high enough to keep taxes as low as possible. Price controls and rationing shall be used in place of taxes to allow mass production to keep price affordable and the minimum standard of living as high as possible.
Government corruption and inefficiency are the root of most problems. Money buys the law and corrupts the government. Yet money communicates better than words what we need to motivate hard work. So a balance between rules and the power of money to make and break the rules must be found. What we call transparency is the way we open secret proceedings to public view and to the power to elect honest competent officials.
For ages we have had more people than jobs. The result has been wage slavery. We need to change things around so that we have more good jobs than people, so that people are valued for the work they do that we may have left undone in the past.
c. MILITARY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE: government's first job is to protect the lives of citizens. We have acted as though these do not matter. We have chased fame and fortune at the expense of endless war and want. It is time to end war by ending tyranny and poverty. If it takes war to end these things, we have no choice but to be prepared to win necessary war.
The environment is as tough on people as their worst enemy. If it is not protected, it will kill us.
JohnGelles 06/04/2011 12:22 AM Report
Problems:
1. REAL ESTATE -- foreclosures and their effect on aggregate demand, jobs, more foreclosures, etc., and the on the American future.
2. JOBS -- unemployment and its effect on demand, supply, living standards (minimum and median), inflation, deflation and the American future.
3. MILITARY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE -- and its absolute role on earth to prevent tyranny and ignorance from destroying civilization.
Solutions:
1. Our own failure to prevent the de-industrialization of America is an attempted suicide worse than defeat by our most intransigent enemy.

Like it makes a difference? Money runs a plutocracy. The titular whore in the white house has nothing really to do with things that count. Like wars, like bedding with high finance etc.
Big money for instance makes something as basic as tax reform toward a flat(er) tax impossible. They would buy themselves an exemption before the first year expired.
Consequently, even someone as vacuous as Sarah would in some ways be more honest - it would more accurately reflect the national IQ.

Ones comments about Mr Romney being Robotic have been previously posted. One has been surprised at the vehemence of the Evangelicals reaction to Mr Romney being a member of a"cult" religion. Mr Romney would do very well to honestly tell America why he wants to be President.
REMant 06/03/2011 10:45 AM Report
I don't agree with much of this. Romney looks stupid and plastic to me and I think Obama, assuming he wins renomination, would eat his lunch face-to-face, much the way Clinton did with Bush the Elder, who BTW is who I see when I look at him. Romney tho has little chance of winning his own party's nomination, because I'm sure he's got little cachet with the Tea Partiers. The money he's raised is in a way proof of that. But I'm sure that the Dems would love to run against him. Perhaps the GOP should find a suitable straw-person to run against Obama, like Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid.

Why doesn't Mccain run again--hell, if any republican would have a chance against the Hope-n'-Change juggernaut, i figure it would be the Maverick...rematch, rematch, rematch...

Mitt Romney has credentials, and he now seems ready to fight, but so is Sarah, Michelle, and many others.
Pres. Obama has not "failed America', ..he has failed himself. Nice try at "revolution".
But America does retain a "strategic reserve": John Boehner.
Maybe not the "full throated attack" type of candidate mentioned here, ..but guess what? ..Mr. Boehner is second-in-line right now for the Presidency, behind the current Vice President Joe Biden.
The question may not be "Who would we LIKE to see as a President?", ..but, instead .."Who is the proper person to now step up to that position?"
John Boehner just went into the last "continuing resolution" battle having to sit at a White House table with President Obama, Vice=President Biden, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid all staring him down and demanding he let them spend more money.
John Boehner got concessions to that demand from those Democrats.
If he can continue to hold true to such common sense, ..he will have earned the votes of many Americans.
