What a waste of electrons. Rose seems to be slipping into old age, running out of energy and ideas. Unless, perhaps, there is a financial method to this badness?

These tornadoes really flattened some places. Having lived so long in the Midwest I'm probably more used to seeing pictures and hearing stories like this, but the many pix and vids of the twisters themselves, due no doubt to all the digital cameras around these days, were extraordinary. There were some tornado reports even in the DC area, but I have never heard a siren here, and I doubt there are any to speak of, which strikes me as a justifiable use of taxpayer money. This probably is related to global warming, which seems to have increased the volatility of hot and cold air masses, but it may also reflect what is believed to be decades long cycles of heat and drought. As was mentioned, the record for storms like this was held by 1932, in the midst of the Dust Bowl years.
