Great idea! Love his cool, humble demeanor.

Perhaps, go to the garbage cans to see all the waste. Serving is one thing; actually eating quite another.

There is a bigger story here--Title I schools are based on the number of free/reduced lunch participants. So poor people get more of this "food". Also, farmers love this because they get subsidies to provide this "food" so they want the programs to never end. Finally, the healthcare costs increase (one sixth of our economy folks) because of this "food".

Good luck mate--you are going to need it.

Really? robd. So you think the world is a better place with scumbags who profit from PUSHING obesity, diabetes, misery and early death on innocent children in it.?. That's ok with you?.

You know, robd, I suspect you weren't BEATIN enough as a kid.

    6. robdverity  04/16/2011 05:08 PM Report

      Totally!

    7. doodah  04/16/2011 11:02 AM Report

...that's no joke, I would REALLY kill them all.

      Is that so wrong?

    8. doodah  04/16/2011 10:51 AM Report

God Bless this kind young gentleman. It absolutely makes makes me sick to my stomach to see fat little children, who really don't have a choice, but are subject to stupid lazy adults (i.e. their parents, teachers and scumbag Marketing majors). They are force fed excessive Sugar and Salt from their very births ...; good luck trying to break that addiction/curse, KIDS.

What this guy is Trying to do is the most noble thing being done for AMERICANS that anybody is doing or has done (except for going to War). I don't give a shit if he's not born in America, I'd vote for him for President before ANY goddamn Politician. Wall Street bought Politicians are more of THE PROBLEM than ANYTHING ELSE. And nothing is gonna get fixed as long as the electorate 'cheers' for either party as if they're football teams.TOTAL BROWN NOSING MORONS in the politicized "educational system", I'm sure, hate this guy, and what he stands for. But if I were the benevolent dictator of this grand land, I'd have ALL those "non-essential" bureaucrats SHOT.

Good for Jaime Oliver! I took home ec in high school and learned to budget for, buy and prepare healthy food. This course of study is now considered unnecessary and a frill. Parents and politicians talk about getting back to basics. What is more basic than learning to feed ourselves and our families well? I've been out of high school nearly 50 years so I guess I'm just old fashioned because I think learning this kind of basic is important.

    10. REMant  04/15/2011 11:23 AM Report

School cafeteria food in the US years ago, altho not the kind thing we consider healthful these days, coming as it did from government stockpiles, was, nevertheless, a lot better on average, and I think the reason for that is simply that we pander to them more now. But it's not just children, it's nearly impossible to get the elderly to eat right, too.
