Such pandering. Do you ever embarrass yourself?

Steven and Cokie Roberts, and Charlie Rose their host, offer the great audience here and abroad a delightful look and listen to a married intellectual couple we all admire.
The few sour-pus comments (1 and 2) miss the point.
These molders of American opinion have written (and are advertising) a Haggadah for interfaith families to use at a Passover sevice that had been appreciated by Stevens' friends in the past before it went public.
By discussing it with Charlie Rose, we are treated to the Roberts' charming ways--and we can imagine the many years they have been in love and contributed with their talent to the public discussions of American culture, politics and life that readers and TV audiences enjoy.
I, for one, like them both.
They have not to my knowledge been interested in debt-free money Keynesian solutions to our budget problems. Others in their line of work generally believe America has not enough money to achieve revovery immediatley and implement the list of government investments that would give us the infrastructure we needed yesterday.
It would give us the invitation to full employment WWII gave us in the past.
That invitation would bring out our genius and hard work to again be the arsenal of democracy -- prepared to turn the fruits of technology into the weapons for peace: homes, schools, factories, progress, etc.
In spite of the fact that the three (Steve, Cokie and Charlie) do not echo my thoughts on money and democracy, they do contribute mightily to decent thought and talk about our times and lives. That is worth our thank you.
The Catholic faith is shared by billons, the Jewish by a few million. But the two faiths share much in common. One of my favorite Jews was John von Neumann, the computer science genius whose work transformed our world and lives. He was also a Catholic, somewhat like the Roberts children.
One can read some of his facinating life on Wikipedia.
If Johnny Von Neumann were still alive he would have listened to this discussion and bought the Roberts Haggadah. Because he was a mensch. A mensch is Yiddish from German meaning "a person of integrity and honor".
The three in this dscussion were all menschen (plural if I'm right).
Most, even all, of Charlie's guests are menschen. Too bad they're not money cranks like me and Abraham Lincoln. If they were, the Roberts children and posterity, and my children and posterity, would live in a better world. One with full employment and more than enough money, water, food, homes, schools, jobs and Haggadahs to go around.
And many would add this interfaith Haggadah to their table, at hand for the next seder dinner they hold. At that seder, the youngest talking child would ask the famous questions about the history the Jews that were rescued by God from bondage in Egypt.
This year, the Egyptians were rescued from bondage by their Roberts and Rose types with their own guts and Allied planes so far.
We now sit and wonder if we have the right, blood and money to land among them and finish the rescue job.
Of course we do. But we hold back for lack of faith in God and democracy. I do not think the Roberts and Rose's counsel holding back -- but they probably are not out front with Moses -- leading the human race into the promised land that is our own neighborhood -- with all the opportunities that flowed from the Bible and the work of Johnny Von Neumann in our time. Johnny's computers need planes and robots in the air and on the ground to finish the job started by American's under President Bush and continuing under President Obama -- but without the faith we need to follow up war with the Second Bill of Rights and all the money pent up in the work of 7 billion souls who have not yet escaped from the bondage of ignorance, bigotry and hard money.

Another meeting of the Good Democrats Club. And a very clever way to bias the political dimension of this show. Viewers were also treated at the beginning of the show to a very vulgar ad by Rose's corporate stablemate, making Rose very happy($$$) and potentially ruining the teeth of millions around the world. Ha,ha, happiness!

Delusional(J) x Delusional(C) = Delusional^2(JC)
Steven has the bigger burden enduring Cokie's support of the most evil institution conceivable. Its Hierarchy of homosexual misogynists that threaten EXCOMMUNICATION for an Iowan Nun that desired priesthood; to protective transfers of priests that molest and violate prepubescent minors - scaring them for life, with excommunication not even mentioned.
The support by these two (Steven's by default) of such a repugnant, evil institution impugns both of their judgments on everything they chose to expostulate on (for or against).

There's not necessarily a lot of difference except in ritual between run-of-the-mill Catholics and Jews. On top of that Jews have been promoting the idea for a long time that Christ was after all a Jew, etc., which no doubt appeals to many who really understand nothing about religion, and especially liberal Democrats like these two.
