You over-score your dissembling with caps? You'll have to answer your own query. As it indeed is all yours.
And no thanks to the virgins of any no. Anathema. Not to be wasted on one whose appreciation would be antithetical to the accepted (presumed) desirability of such a condition. Could think of no bigger waste than a virginity expended on me.
The Arabs saved their biggest bang-for-their-buck for NYC. The other hits also stem from the creation and existence of Israel. Rationalizing otherwise may be comforting but does not change the facts. Arabs obviously feel impotent, frustrated and abused. Parity will be a frightening thing.
BENEZRAA 04/13/2011 11:47 PM Report
SO, IF I UNDERSTAND YOU CORRECTLY, JEWS ARE "CATS" -- WHICH ARABS "LIKE" -- AND ARABS ARE "DOGS" [WHICH ARABS FIND DISGUSTING] -- AND HISTORY WILL TELL, WHICH ARE SMARTER, CATS OR DOGS? DOES THIS ANALOGY MAKE SENSE EVEN TO YOU?
NINE-ELEVEN: The terrorists did hit the USA and in so doing hit Israel's strongest supporter; the terrorists have also hit Britain, France, Spain, Germany, Turkey, and many other countries. Sadly, many of these countries, never especially strong supporters of Israel, have bowed to their fears of terrorism, and the remaining question is whether or not the USA will -- or already has. The Muslim Brotherhood, which spawned Osama bin Laden, is clearly alive and well and a power on the Arab street. Together, the Muslim Brotherhood, Iran of the Ayatollahs, and the support of China and Russia, this Arab Spring looks more and more like a Jihadi Nightmare.
The Chinese Crossbow is pointed at the USA's West Coast, with Kashmir as the locus of the notch of it's arrow. The Muslim Crossbow is pointed at the USA, with Kashmir as the locus of the notch of it's arrow, and Israel sitting like an apple before the tip of that arrow. Russia's crossbow, notched in Iran and pointed over the North Pole, is poised to pick up the pieces.
Robdverity -- you may well get what you are praying for, though as an avowed atheist, you may deny that you pray, unless you understand the word beyond the limited usage of prayer as a particular utterance to a particular deity by custom of a particular faith. Will you enjoy your martyrdom? You may after all have a place in Muslim Heaven with seventy-two virgins....

Ashamed that I'm playing along. 'Kicked dog,' underdog, persecuted, inequitable, unfair, besieged, - all things I'm sure you know what I meant, thus disingenuous. With this revelation are you going to show with examples how each my examples don't apply? A word play trap? Be my guest.
9/11 not an Arab reaction. They were all Arabs (Saudis)? They hit USA, not Britain, not Canada, not Mexico, not Rio, (tell me when to stop). They hit Israeli's main supporter - no one else. Your disingenuity(wd?) is showing yet again.
BENEZRAA 04/12/2011 12:31 AM Report
SAME S---, DIFFERENT DAY
Robdverity, I agree, your reaction is indeed kneejerk, though your opinion that I am disingenuous is absurd, nor are you specific as to in what manner I may be disingenuous.
Nine-eleven is not an Arab reaction to Israel and even was condemned by the Palesinian Arabs.
I'd still like to know exactly what you meant by cats and dogs.
robdverity 04/10/2011 06:50 PM Report
Well Ben, my knee-jerk reaction is that just perhaps you're being disingenuous. 9/11 is an Arab reaction to Israel and its treatment of Pals (100:1 kill ratio etc). 9/11 then led to W's overreaction to it (Iraq and Af-Pak). The 1947 date is incidental, the follow-on is not.
BENEZRAA 04/10/2011 02:35 AM Report
RE: CATS AND DOGS
Either I'm too dense, or your attempt at metaphor is not clear and obvious; either way, please spell out for me, exactly what did you mean to say....
RE: Your response to my #8:
Do you seriously attribute Nine-Eleven, Af-Pak, and Iraq to UN recognition of Israel in 1947?
There is no need for you to admit "guilt" for imagining the world without Israel. I do so frequently, as it so easily exposes the absurdity of blaming Israel for all the world's problems, especially as pertains to the problems of the Arabs. What is this obsession of yours, to define world history as pre- and post- creation of the modern State of Israel in 1947, and to see the world as on a downward spiral ever since?
Tell me, what do you think world history would look like, if Israel had not come into existence in the time and way that it did?
And perhaps you might try another exercise: just suppose that your operating hypothesis [that the existence of Israel has caused world history to spiral downwards] is not correct and that the opposite is true. [I do not believe either to be true, but, it is a useful exercise.]
robdverity 04/08/2011 06:50 PM Report
You're trying too hard. Make it a cat. Arabs like cats. Smarter of the two is up to history (which was the point).
As to no.8. Admit I'm guilty of trying to imagine the world without Israel. It's origination (from a holocaust guilt?) in 1947 or whenever has set us on a downward spiral since it seems to me. Established by fiat? Too arbitrarily dictatorial. Contrasting before and after is too revealing to be ignored. Admit it or no 9/11, Iraq and Af-Pak all revert back to the existence of an arbitrary 1947 fiat. How about a fiat reestablishing the Indians to Manhattan? About as whimsical, but probably more just and even logical.
ABENEZRA 04/08/2011 12:44 AM Report
ROBDVERITY:
1) As you were engaged in writing [below] of your sympathy for the Arab "kicked dog", did it occur to you that said Arab may not appreciate being so characterized?
2) To whom were you referring as the "smarter of the two"?
3) Again, as in #1 above, is the Arab indeed a "beast" [or did you have some other meaning in mind]?
4) Directly or indirectly or implied, your writing is so laden with vicious derision of others; why?
5) Are you aware that Arabs may be both Semites and Hamites?
6) Heaven Forfend, should Israel and the USA ever come to blows against each other [a scenario you speculate on, expressing as well your "suspicion" of an anti-American Jewish Fifth Column (a.k.a. "secondary Am's"); then, unless persecution of Jews in the USA should rival that of Hitler's Germany or Stalin's USSR, most American Jews will continue to identify and side with the USA, as they do now.
7) Only an idiot would deny that Jews and Israel exercise significant influence on American Government. Even so, only a greater idiot would exaggerate the significance of that influence, while simultaneously ignoring or denying the many other influences: (e.g. - the influences of 1.3 billion Muslims of which more than 300 million of these Muslims are of Arab nationalities; let us not forget the significance of the Arab oil resources in the world economy and on international politics, as well as military influences); (e.g. - the various political and economic and military influences of China, Russia, etc.).
8) Blaming Jews and Israel for the problems of the world in general and of the Arabs in particular exaggerates such influences far out of proportion to reality.
9) The suffering of Arabs under Israeli hegemony is far overblown; to the far greater degree, Hamas and Fatah are directly and immediately responsible for the extortion of the demographic over which they exercise power, and Hamas and Fatah are not so engaged in a vaccum -- they are funded and pressed on by the whole of Arabia and Islam to engage a perpetual front line against Israel in order to prevent resolution of the Arab-Israeli Conflict until such time as the West abandons Israel (a possibility that increases generation by generation, as the WW2 "Greatest Generation" dies off, as teaching of The Holocaust and WW2 fade, and as old anti-Jewish prejudices and ignorances supplant recent memory).
10) Israel is not uniquely a recipient of American foreign aid to the Middle East; and, what Israel may receive in apparent disproportion from the USA in comparison to such aid given to some Arab countries, other nations more than make up for in their support of Arab nations.
11) It is far more likely that the USA and the West may seek to have Israel engage Iran militarily in a "proxy war" than the other way around, as you suggest. Even more likely, the entire world will accommodate and appease Iran until of existential necessity, Israel unilaterally engages Iran, and to world condemnation, as when Israel eliminated Saddam Hussein's nuclear capability in 1981.
12) Failure to sympathize with the suffering of Israelis is reprehensible, just as failure to sympathize with the suffering of Arabs would also be reprehensible. Just today a bomb was exploded in a Santa Monica synagogue AND an Israeli school bus was hit with a mortar shell. The pain and suffering of the endless Arab-Israeli Conflict is not reserved to the Arabs.
13) You and I and everyone are privileged to be published here at the Charlie Rose site, a privilege that no law obligates Mr. Rose to extend, and a privilege that the site may exercise at will. It is to the credit of this site that extraordinary freedom of speech is tolerated. I for one am grateful for this privilege.
robdverity 04/07/2011 04:20 PM Report
Looking fwd. Affection for Arabs is a misread. A kin to sympathy for a kicked dog. Islamic radicalism is reprehensible (n.b. overreaction to Fla Qoran burning). The smarter of the two has to stop "feeding-the-beast."

DEAR LEFT-HANDED ROBDVERITY:
You are such a comedian! May you continue to endarken the world with your amusing commentaries! I'll get back to you on the subject of your ignorance and anti-semitism later on, and I do say anti-semitism, as I completely doubt the sincerity you pretend to with respect to my cousins, the Arabs, and in my experience, the pretense some such as you yourself make of affection for Arabs is usually a smokescreen to "justify" hatred of Jews. Keep your left hand busy, I'll criticize you in detail later on. At this moment I must walk my pet duck, which I have named in your honor.
robdverity 04/06/2011 06:43 PM Report
Ben - left-handed flattery will get you anywhere. I repeat my anti-Shalom post here (not anti-Semitic - confused bit of semantics as Arabs are Semites). The only directly disparaging comment was that Shalom's plea was cowardly. I didn't even say it was whimperingly cowardly.
Israeli influence on US is undeniable. They would coax the US into a proxy war with Iran in a heartbeat. I leave my comments unedited. Israel is a geopolitical anathema. Think of the geo-strife due to its existence: 9/11, Iraq, Af-Pak, not to mention the maltreatment of Pals, having to live in their own excrement, jobless, degraded and frustrated into stupid acts of desperation. Then mercilessly punished by US financed military aid to Israel at $2.0 billion annually.
Lastly I strongly suspicion Jews are secondary Am's. Any (never-happen) conflict between US and Israel would lose all of them to a fifth-col. NYC would be lost the first five minutes.
The monitors have to allow my comments. They can subsume them to off-homepage status asap. Like this one. My post repeated:
"PS This website has become the comment space of vicious and ignorant anti- Semites. Why isn't it monitored?"
"Mr Freedman's cowardly plaintive peal against speech he finds offensive epitomizes the means and methods Jews are suspected of manipulating and controlling the US media (CBS a good example for one). CR monitors are subject to such pressure (Bloomberg? et al). First Amendment be damned unless it's pro-Israel/Jew.
"It's easy to see how the Pals are oppressed with arrogant and demeaning strictures on daily life if a simple CR blog causes such a cry for high-handed intervention. Did Gaddafi (Hitler) get started that way?
What's even more scary is that he asks, "Why isn't it monitored?" as if it should have been done as a matter of course. Even Shalom thinks the Jewish media manipulation has let him down. Keep trying Shalom you might get you what you want."
BENEZRAA 04/06/2011 03:49 PM Report
ROBDIVERITY...
How clever those Jewish Media Moguls are! They control the press -- yet, they publish your anti-Jewish tirades! How arrogant they must be! Don't they realize that you are a deep thinker and serious threat to the Jewish Plot to Take Over the World? Don't they realize that the rational world is threatened by the spectre of a diet of gefilte fish, boiled chicken, herring, and smoked salmon? Don't those Jews realize they should accept the freedom of obligatory bacon, crab, lobster, and shrimp? The rest of the world gets along fine on such a diet! Why can't the Jews accept it and be just like everyone else! And why can't those clever Jewish Media Moguls do what Shalom Freedman says and monitor your comments into oblivion? As long as they allow you to publish, they make your claims appear foolish and hypocritical! (What a headache that must be for you!)
In fairness I have actually witnessed that once in while you actually say something in defense of Israel -- rarely, but, you do. (No, I will not quote you, you may do that yourself).
Personally, I think you just get off on initiating verbal reparte with anyone sensitive enough to get suckered into taking you seriously. This gives you opportunity to go for their jugular, as you did with Shalom Freedman (you could have politely said, "Shalom, even those, who are anti-Israel and anti-Jewish, have the right to free speech," but, you did not, and you attacked Shalom viciously). Why?
Civil discourse is once thing. Even uncivil discourse has it's place. But, this persistent trait of yours, to make personal vicious attacks on others (and in the case of Shalom Freedman, you were not personally attacked, although you may have felt it that way; indeed, Shalom did not attack anyone; Shalom just spoke to the fact that there were a plethora of bigoted, anti-Jewish comments, though Shalom did go too far in seeking to have those comments censored) -- what's up with that behavior of yours? You are smart enough and capable enough to comment in a civil way and at a higher level. What demon possesses you to drag yourself down into the "gutter" and "live" there? Does the "gutter" really smell so good and feel so fine that it is preferable to you than even street level?
I know I am being hard on you, and you and I have had lengthy reparte, which have thankfully resolved positively, even though there are some subject areas in which we continue to disagree, Israel being a case in point most of the time. For what it's worth, of late I have found reading the majority of your comments to be at least entertaining and at times even worthwhile. Ergo I have seen some growth (though not yet nearly enough) in your writing. So I hope this current spat of viciousness is just a momentary relapse of negative behavior and that you will take it up with an appropriate professional counselor, just as I hope that Shalom Freedman will learn to respond with a little more respect for our American right to freedom of speech.
There are responsibilities that go along with freedom of speech -- thoughtfulness and mindfulness among others. I hope you find this comment (from this member of the Jewish Plot to Take Over the World and Make Everyone Eat Gefilte Fish, Boiled Chicken, etc. and whose Media Mogulity may be equal to yours -- ergo, nonexistent except in the realm of this Peanut Gallery of Commentary) to be thoughtful, mindful, appropriately facetious, entertaining, worthwhile -- and most importantly of all, that you will save 15% on your car insurance by switching to....

dood - Resilience is a relative thing. Radiation half life in thousands of years makes resilience somewhat moot for the current earths species. A theory that will doubtless be tested by religious factions expressing their respective piety. The next species variant can start anew. They will last as long as their grasp of their reality is not overrun with myths and superstitions (aka religions). They may evolve or not. And no one will care (supreme or otherwise).

The Earth is very resilient, it will heal itself Naturally. :) It's a Beautiful Thing if you think about it. ..Most people don't realize that; because they're Obsessed with self-preservation and survival, and their 'Legacys'. That's what possesses some people to jump into fires to save a child or a pet.
But in do time, Mother Nature, eventually shares her blessings with everyone (especially atheists) (because it's raw reality without the fairy GODmothers) (it's the way it is AND 'the way' it's supposed to be; a 'Secular Nobility..for ALL' (a personal preference, I assume)
NeilMacCallister 04/02/2011 08:58 PM Report
Yes, rob, .."pullout".
My TV reported that Navy ships, and American personnel, were moved "southward and away from the disaster site" weeks ago.
Doesn't that make us ignoble cowards, and only a "fair-weather friend" to a leading ally in the modern-world community?
How many people have died in Japan? ..More than 10,000! ..and they are still counting bodies!
Who is going to step up and help Japan answer the challenge of this nuclear spill into the Earth's largest ocean? ..no one??
Is fusing sand in the Libyan desert really more important?
robdverity 04/02/2011 06:27 PM Report
Shalom - I've taken on more than my distaste for Israel's maltreatment of Pals; Catholic pedophilia and misogyny (threats of excommunication to a nun wanting priesthood; but not for predatory priests) for example. Where was your call for monitoring then. Surely your narrow parochialism isn't limited just to the Jewry?
I've also declared my atheism. Do you want protection from such views by your (gestapo?) monitors? Quality here is already elusive. Limiting it to your views ALONE will make it totally moot and colossally useless.

Doesn't anyone remember the broken-pipe Gulf leak?? ..How long did it take President Obama to consider offering help in that disaster?
..Or President Bush after Katrina??
Haven't you all seen the pictures from Japan of demolished cities? ..and thousands of human-beings buried under rubble??
Why the hell did we pull out of that disaster as quickly as we could, ..and move over to Libya in order to shoot missiles into a gunfighters' brawl?
Let's knock this crap off, and get back and help Japan!

REMant 04/01/2011 11:45 AM Report
This seems to be a very fine example of the way the admin's propaganda machine works. Amb Dabbashi's boss, the former Libyan ambassador, has an op-ed in this morning's Wash Post on "How to help us free Libya." This was no doubt arranged after the UK conference where Sec'y Clinton and other NATO members got their first up close look at what they buying after having put down a sizable deposit. In fine, these ppl want us to sustain them, but not interfere with what they do, claiming they are an oppressed ppl willing to fight for their freedom. This meshes nicely with what appears to be the Grenada attitude that has developed in the aftermath of the debacle in Iraq and the looming one in Afghanistan, where the military is also trying to save face. There is no difference, you know, between the party in power and the Reaganites. The latter were never new conservatives, they were, and still are, old progressives. But who knows what more these ppl will just have to have before they grow up? Right now they want recognition from the US govt in order to get their hands on Libyan assets in this country, and continuation of air support, food, and arms. Mr Dabbashi also apparently wants an assassination team to take out Qaddafi and save them the trouble.
The admin sent the CIA there three weeks ago ostensibly to find all this out, and I am wondering if anyone knows they are there. These "rebels" put MI-5 or 6 on a plane back to London. The French (no doubt tired of reading Dave Barry), for their part, sent an intellectual hypocrite, who came back to report they were all stellar "team" players, which he knew anyway, because they are all on Facebook. But some of the NATO intelligence community is not so sure. After all, Facebook identities can be faked.
If, on the other hand, this has been a CIA operation from the start, which I'd give even odds, it certainly falls in the Bay of Pigs category.
The idea floated here that Qaddafi's supporters will just go away is, I think, wishful thinking, nor do I suppose they will be humanely treated. It is not enough to argue as, in fact, it was in Kosovo, that just because no American soldiers are directly involved, we can avoid repercussions. We certainly got them in Afghanistan. And there is no way, in the absence of citizens amenable to it, to create the kind of democratic state envisioned without some kind of power to enforce it. The child-savers should read their Montesquieu like our forefathers did (and the French did not).
As for the defector, I am not sure I would trust anything he says, especially as it seems he has not been given immunity, unless that's a lie, too, but I suspect that's why he flew to England and not Nicaragua or Venezuela.
I hope Charlie enjoys the beach in Thailand or wherever, and comes back with his head screwed on straighter.
