-the whole afghan police force working for the united states is high on heroin and weed they wear make up and sleep with each other-

-then part of the taliban is a crime syndicate and couldn't care less about the united states they're just trying to make money-

-then there are religious fanatics roaming around calling themselves the taliban too-

-also there are the people who are now starting to drive around on motorcycles and eat ice cream the first signs of their ascent out of poverty-

-the vice president of afghanistan left the country with 52 million dollars in cash-

(various things i've read about on the subject having never been there)

Spot on RE. These 'insiders' should have to divulge their GE, Boeing et al stk. holdings before they come on espousing their 'it's ok to kill and maim for profit,' - as long as it's ours. One even offered that the Taliban would take pride in our defeat. So f------ what. So we keep the slaughter going for these guys pride? Epitomizes the small minds that get us into protracted and stupid wars. Libya's a dead wringer to be next with short-sided children we've got running our oligarchy.

Another "burp Baby Obama" show. When in the hell is Obama going to be able to think/breathe on his own? And by the way: Are we going to Chieu Hoi them or are they going to Chieu Hoi us(an inside joke these FNG's don't know)!

I think Gen Keane is still living in la-la land, and Prof Shinn has less than no idea what he is talking about, like Nixon. Only Ignatius approaches realism, but it seems even he cannot rid himself of the idea that there is some great tsunami of progress washing the shores of the Middle East. All the Taliban have to do is stay in Pakistan and wait for us to leave, because there is no evidence of an Afghan central govt fielding a capable, or even loyal, army, much less solving the opium problem, and I doubt seriously that the assassination program has done anything more than terrorize the population. I surely wouldn't give any weight to what the "Chieu Hois" say. As I'm sure I said a while ago, we can always win by wiping out all the people and making it the 51st state. We probably could have done that in Vietnam; we tried hard enough at times. But what earthly good would it do except to make the president feel good? This discussion is sort of like the ("unadjusted") unemployment rate, which is right back where it was this time last year.
