      TED is fantastic.

      I am watching segments now:

Jill Bolte Taylor: My stroke of insight

Jeff Han: Touchscreen demo foreshadows the iPhone

      David Gallo: Underwater astonishments

Blaise Aguera y Arcas: Jaw-dropping Photosynth demo

I have attended TED Global via broadcast and TEDx twice in person.

      I have donated to TEDx.

      Keep up the great work.

I was incredibly inspired by the TED 2011 Conference. As an associate member, I watched the live simulcast, which was the next best thing to being there. I gave my own standing ovations to several of the speakers from my desk! I am so grateful to Chris Anderson for sharing his vision and passion with all of us. Thank you!

I've been to TEDActive in Palm Springs twice, am headed there on Saturday and have already signed up for next year. Chris Anderson, the well-selected speakers, all of the TED staff and the people who choose to attend make this event a "luxury cruise for my mind". I live in a tiny town in rural upstate NY and knowing TED is but a click away helps keep me afloat. I have spent many hours on TED.com -- I hope you will too.

TED is a tremendously valuable forum. It has brought together the best minds from a wide variety of areas and given a mass audience through the Internet an opportunity to learn from the best people. Its eighteen minute presentations are often brilliantly condensed.

However as should be expected TED also has its share of mediocrities. There is no real critical feedback for the talks so they come across uncontested with.

It is also important to know that there are other venues who provide something of the same experience TED does. BIG THINK is one such site.

It is interesting that Chris Walker says TED talks are not to be political , religious or commercial. But sometimes they are and not a few have been quite strongly anti- religious.

On the whole however it is a tremendously valuable enterprise for the educating of millions of people. I could cite a long list of TED talks I found brilliant. I will instead do a short list. Kenneth Robinson, Spencer Welles, Martin Rees, David Deutsch, Brian Greene, Sherwin Nuland, .

Thank you for the introduction. It does open my mind by viewing the same thing in different perspective.

Advertising IS of more value than being tight-fisted; market share as important certainly as profits. Tho I am not sure where that leads for things like TED.
