What a hypercritical world we live in....awesome nonetheless. Charlie, your interviews are the most in-depth and open-minded on the planet. It's so healthy to listen. Thank you for producing and sharing your creativity.

Mant - your contrarian bent is too predictable. Give us two paragraphs: first pos., second neg. with first at least one sentence longer. A writing exercise you'll flunk, I'm betting. Or get a size larger underwear.

Turning aside the question of why this tragedy had occurred, the president asked, as Lincoln did at Gettysburg, if the dead had fallen in vain. He found reasons for what he termed hope in the heroism of those who responded to the emergency, and, asking what others could do to be similarly of service, found it in a plea for more civil discourse, for empathy, a concern for bettering the lives of others, and a more perfect union. But he chose as the venue for his eulogy a university campus, and the students responded by shrieking as if he were on the stump, to which the president seemed, unfortunately, to play. I thought the remarks fairly characteristic of his mindset, and while not directly offensive, did little to actually answer the questions posed in the past few days, and more than enough to imply that it is indeed to be located in a sort of political paranoia. Most of this was lost on the Post's columnists today, however, who continued to assault the Constitution and insult the public.
