I find this man so poised and able, whether what he believes is true is another issue altogether, but his measure, intelligence, calm, articulation and caution are truly impressive. This is another one of your guests Charlie that shoulc be featured regularily.

Yes vast amount of the WLeaks are of no substantive import but it definitely shows the lack of trust in government to do the right and moral thing aka no WMDs in Iraq was a lie, Israeli ownership of America and its foreign policy etc..Liberal democracy is dead. There is a wall around the people.

Right on REMant, you indeed have a way with words. The following from PBS Newshour suggests it's much ado about not much:
ZBIGNIEW BRZEZINSKI: "The real issue is, who is feeding Wikipedia on this issue -- Wiki -- Wiki -- WikiLeaks on this issue? They're getting a lot of information which seems trivial, inconsequential, but some of it seems surprisingly pointed.
JUDY WOODRUFF: Well, what are you referring to?
ZBIGNIEW BRZEZINSKI: Well, for example, there are references to a report by our officials that some Chinese leaders favor a reunified Korea under South Korea.
This is clearly designed to embarrass the Chinese and our relationship with them. The very pointed references to Arab leaders could have as their objective undermining their political credibility at home, because this kind of public identification of their hostility towards Iran could actually play against them at home.
JUDY WOODRUFF: And I want to ask you about that, because the impression is -- and I want to turn to Steve Hadley on this as well -- Saudi Arabia has not been public about its view, as -- and we heard the quote from King Abdullah, that the U.S. should go after or Israel should go after Iran and its nuclear weapons program.
So, what -- what effect could this have now that that's out there that it's confirmed?"
Tee hee! I hope it's the Mossad behind the links as part of their ongoing campaign to get the US to carry the water for them against their obsession against Iran. Since they pride themselves on being oh-so-clever; their sleeves abound with self-satisfied laughter no doubt. Chuckle, it would be diabolically devious.

As I wrote yesterday, and whenever Blair and Napolitano etc, have been on, I don't agree with any of this. The same arguments were made when we backed various "anti-Communist" dictators around the world. It is also reminiscent of Machiavelli's Prince, "1984" and umpteen other books and films about dictators and palace plots. It reaches back to the Elizabethan age. I think Mr Blair needs to acquaint himself with history or at least with Graham Greene and John LeCarre. He should take what he says about N Korea and apply it to his own country. Everything he says is against a background of an absolute authority - the Defense establishment, etc - when in fact history has been an ongoing struggle against it. Bill Moyers would never go this far. This must have been a pretty tough couple of years for Charlie, first discovering his captains of industry are mostly crooks and cheats, and govt connections scarcely better, some of them even disparaging the president of France. What IS the world coming to?
