I've been lucky in traveling to Mexico seven times and wishing I had the opportunity to return again, it is one of my favorite countries to visit. I totally agree with Mack, there is something absolutely charming about life in the small towns over there, it is very real there but at the same time magical.
For example, wedding ceremonies in those little towns are unforgettable, and many couples from the larger cities prefer to have them there.

horses petute - your post is self evident; and your suggestion of cut and paste is done here as your own words speak loud enuff: "robd, you must love tea... I suppose. I think you might have wanted to use the word disengenous as opposed to Ingenuous (your misspelled word)... maybe a dictionary would be a great tool before you start vomiting your ignorance."
Just curious, is your spell-checker as unused your (own) dictionary?
Since you appear to be too obtuse to grasp the connection between Mr Macks artistry of capturing meaning, humanity, quality-of-life versus the stark contrast of drug cartel terrorism financed by the US banks laundering of their money; try this: even the simple life is being ravaged by our dual appetite for drugs and (blood) money.
And your, "you must love tea" means what exactly?
Back on pt. Most any injustice in the world can be traced back to the egregious greed of US bankers and banking; from preemptive wars-for-profit, to subprime loans and the associated devious financial instruments (CDOs, CDSs, purloined ratings, yadda, yadda), and drug cartel money laundering (Mexico, Japan et al).
Our country is capsizing largely because of our financial institutions. Our venal system's for sale to the highest bidder. Like the Romans, the Mayans the Khmer we will not prevail as well. But the financial too-clever-by-half wise-guys will go down in their gold-trimmed yachts nonetheless.
. . . and the equin you rode in on!

robd, congrats on your ability to copy and paste! God knows if you had written it yourself, it'd be a piece worthy of a Pulitzer price!
I have no idea how this convoluted and disjointed nonsense you've posted relates to an artist photographing Mexico and his views on it, other than your runaway hatred and ignorant venting...
Nonetheless, I congratulate you on your daily quotes, read them carefully, you might learn something...
As long as you keep copying and pasting, you can scrap the idea of the dictionary!

"I have long maintained that we will eventually learn that Citibank took over where BCCI and then Riggs Bank left off: serving as a money laundering vehicle used by drug cartels and other organized crime, terrorists, and spooks. But this article (h/t scribe) on the role of big banks in laundering Mexican drug money reports that–while Citibank has been implicated in money laundering (but took the appropriate regulatory steps in response)–there are a number of other banks deeply implicated:
•Wachovia (now owned by Wells Fargo)
•Bank of America
•American Express
•HSBC
•Banco Santander
"Most of these banks were implicated in Mexican legal filings. But in March, Wachovia entered into a Deferred Prosecution Agreement with the government that reveals some of the details behind its money laundering."

horse's-arse - The quote of the day fits you to a T (not tea):

"Social shit-working"?!? .. I like it. I like it alot. Good one, robd. ...I'm going to add it to my repertoire; hope you don't think I'm stealing, Chum. :)
robdverity 11/11/2010 05:31 PM Report
Ingenuous to a fault. Had me wishing I was a poor Mexican peon - to attain some real meaning?, quality?, humanity?, what?. Seems to be more and more relevant proportionately with more and more IT. Social shit-working.
Yeah, I know the drug-running says otherwise - but remember the drugs are for us (US), not them. Our financial wise-guys aren't going to pass up a chance for drug money laundering and gun sales solely for the sake of our youth, our (money grasping at all cost) culture.
