He called Israelis "brothers and sisters," but called Iranians simply "neighbors."

"The cacophony of competing tracks was an unfortunate distraction from an otherwise compelling interchange."

Also, I couldn't hear the translator over all of Zafer's muttering.

It's always the same questions with these guys... I wish Charlie would spend more time on trade-related issues when he has the Foreign Trade minister of Turkey on. What is Turkey focusing on in terms of trade development? What is his world tour teaching him and what kind of doors is it opening up? Etc.

Not that I would question the master. Charlie Rose Forever! <3

Please mute the principal speaker more so I can understand the translator's voice. The cacophony of competing tracks was an unfortunate distraction from an otherwise compelling interchange.

Besides the Cyprus issue, Muslims working in Europe in general, many of whom have long been Turks, are unfortunately seeing an uptick in ethnic animosity, I think not because of anything personal or cultural, so much as a backlash against the idea of multiculturalism. This really has nothing to do with trade, but it does impact the idea of a European Union along the lines of the US. And it should not be surprising. We have the same fault lines here. It really ought not affect Turkey's acceptance, but I expect it will. It is important tho that it does not take on the appearance of prejudice.
