Syria is a supplier of weaponry to Hizbollah, and its ally. They both considered Hariri their foremost enemy and had good reason to eliminate him.
Hizbollah's ridiculous effort to pin this on Israel shows that they are squirming now.

The explosive potential of the UN investigation into Hariri's death is certainly a matter of considerable concern or both the Saudi king and the Syrian president would not have flown to Beirut to intervene personally.
NB- Now everyone believes [not briefs] that Hezbollah will be indicted.
