Boy, its refreshing in this day of oil spills, global financial meltdowns, a stagnant economy, and white liberal and conservative political intrigues against a black president, to be able to completely detatch from our depressing everyday realities, and bathe in the shallow tub of artistic fantasy and delusion. I would suggest though that this exercise would have been more effective if Miss Swinton had played her performance against reality by appearing drenched in crude, instead of as a red crested banty rooster.

This film is ITALIAN in more than language and setting and I can think of many French ones dealing with the same subject in a far less worn and pretentious manner. Tho Adams and the cinematographer may get awards, I'm not sure they will be deserved. That stuff should serve the story, not obscure it. Tellingly, no one has so far bothered to pirate it, it appears, and I think it will probably turn out to be a bad investment. After ten years of consideration, I think she should have been able to see which way the wind was blowing, altho that doesn't seem to have stopped her before. Overall, not my glass of vino.

Another superb interview w/Ms. Swinton: she simply radiates with intelligence, humility, wit, artistic integrity, humor, and joie de vivre. Thank you, Mr. Rose, for featuring one of the finest artists working today. The mutual admiration between you two is so palpable and endearing to view.
Bravo!
