Sanger is a truly responsible journalist, who always knows what he is talking about, and formulates his remarks in a clear and logical way. I always learn something new and important from listening to him, even on matters I try to be very informed about.

DAVID SANGER: BP is an example of the argument that has defined Mr. Obama’s first 18 months in office. President Obama has put the power of companies against the power of the presidency.

CHARLIE ROSE: And will this play well in the midterm elections?

DAVID SANGER: I think the president believes that he has a winning theme here. This is what presidents do when they need to exercise their power.

CHARLIE ROSE: Let me turn to Iran. Will sanctions work?

DAVID SANGER: I don’t know anybody who believes that.

CHARLIE ROSE: At some point Netanyahu will say time’s up. Will he ask the permission of the Obama administration?

DAVID SANGER: I doubt the Obama administration would want them to ask permission because they would want to be able to say publicly they acted without U.S. knowledge.

CHARLIE ROSE: David, thank you very much. Have a great weekend.

DAVID SANGER: Thank you, Charlie. You too.

      Dear Gentlemen,

Why do Americans like to elect lawyers as Presidents?

Washington lawyers are ignoring the flood of foreign gatecrashers in our southwestern states, while they themselves live in “gated communities” designed to keep those poor from their own doorsteps.

These same lawyers have ignored stopping the oil now flooding into The Gulf of Mexico, and have instead put themselves on camera in richly paneled committee rooms while they beg Judgments of Damages.

While Israel has rockets dropped into their neighborhoods from over a nearby fence, lawyers philosophically wonder about the need for fences; and then hope they can close their office doors quickly before someone asks them to put their name on a petition.

And as Iran works to soon direct a nuclear device into a United States city, our lawyers say, “Fine! ..Just try it! ..We’ll see you in Court!”

Oh yeah, ..and there are still no jobs anywhere.

Can I sue somebody about that?

    3. REMant  06/21/2010 01:07 PM Report

Of course, the fund has no legal basis, but BP no doubt felt it needed no more bad publicity, and this, like the nuclear deal recently, is an obvious win-win situation, because they would end up spending at least that much, while it saved face for the admin. Someone tho needs to tell Emmanuel that. I've seen hardly anyone in their stations for the past few years and their prices are consistently above the competition, so I've often wondered how they make money here.
