Wonder what happens when the Son in law is ready to go on with his life? Sure it's comforting to have the grandparents there presently, but after a few years the widower will want to turn the page and find another mate to be with.
I have a strange feeling the grandfather will not go quietly alone in the night, so to speak. This whole predicament appears something's gotta give eventually. Of course nobody should have to go through what these folks have, but sadly it does and this isn't the first time.

This has to have been the most intelligible discourse I've ever heard from him, which nevertheless escapes saying anything of substance, despite Charlie's best efforts. What difference does it make how a book is written if nothing is said? James appears to be as perceptive as his mother. Not to in any way disparage the loss, but I know of a lot of ppl who have tackled such situations in the same way despite the obstacles our society throws in the way, who have never thought to write books about it. I also think that in this instance things have gone too far. The children need a mother, and the doctor needs to confront his role as a parent.
