      I should really write something about the difficulties involved in men having many women friends, etc, but having lost a member of my own family just six weeks ago, I turned it off before it finished, and will hold that for another time. Then, too, while I suspect I have a lot in common with Mailer's views, I have never really followed his career and I don't think in the same way, nor with the same motivation. I found The Naked and the Dead dull and uninspired when I tackled it after my own experience in the army, and I don't, of course, hold with his many flights of fancy.
