      I suppose 'character' is more evident in sports (and its lack) than in other endeavors. Politics for example. On the other hand maybe that's a bad example.

      My knee-jerk racism was saddened by back-of-mind intrusion that 'sports' was prob. only real readily available venue for him. Others? Of course but not in the readily-available class.
