      While I do believe their has been a decline in public interest in politics and, hence, the news, another way to look at this is that we have had a very great productivity increase in all the media, and this necessarily reduces prices, and personnel, but not necessarily the audience as a whole, or the media itself. Stuff is just cheaper and more available. There is still a need to organize it. The problem for would-be merchandisers is to create the proper assortment and market it. Possibly all that has really happened, besides the change from wood pulp to electrons, and the accompanying gain in efficiency, is to shuffle the industry's structure and that has no doubt been as liberating as frightening.
