I really hate ballet, but I do like the management theory. Documentaries tho generally put me to sleep, but then I'm usually already familiar with much of what they show. Sometimes I think I've gone through life deliberately putting myself in those situations in order to experience them, like a journalist or novelist, but in more depth. I do wonder how he manages to get permission to film the stuff he does. It seems to me he works the same really as a writer. You have a notion of what you are interested in and set about reading or interviewing and making notes, but the design comes later, if you are honest, sometimes only after re-reading the material several times. Of course, it is possible to be wrong, or too limited in perspective.
