So Obama says be need to rebuild the middle class and employ them, but then he says we need immediately to increase their incomes. Unfortunately, giving them tax breaks, which ppl have been writing that he proposes to do, is completely at odds with the long-term expectation. Meacham, unfortunately, joins the list of those saying we averted the crisis. We merely postponed the day of reckoning a bit more, and will find it that much worse when it finally does get here, AND we did that by spreading the loss to those very Americans, the admin bemoans the condition of, because all the actions of the Fed either have or will have depreciated their money, and raised the wealth and income of others invested in commodities or possessing monopolistic skills in high demand, or dealing in finance. Anyone expecting "growth" with no inflation as a result is engaging in voodoo economics. Unemployment here is not simply a lagging indicator, it is an non-existent indicator, because we are running out of ppl to pass the buck to. When you create inflation you force more ppl down the income scale. It saves some, but sinks more. We have been doing this for 50 yrs now. Were it not for the Japanese, Chinese, Malaysians, Mexicans, and what not, we would have been at the end of this long ago. What the [expletive deleted] feeling pain and having heart have to with any of this I have no idea.
