REMant 01/13/2010 02:03 AM Report
This guy makes sense. But I think reform in Iran is, and always was, a ways off. There is no possible way for Karzai or anyone else to eliminate corruption in Afghanistan in anything close to the near term, if ever, and because of that, there is no way for the US to "win" as the Petraeus clique pretends. That leaves leaving them to their own devices, going ahead and killing as many as possible, which would likely happen anyway if we proceed, leaving ourselves, or trying to limit ourselves to a much narrower objective. On top of this, it is a virtual certainly that we will end up not being able to afford what this proposal ends up costing. And now everyone from Norwegians to Zionists, and, of course, Karzai and Zardari, is trying to pressure the admin one way or the other citing dire consequences for world peace. The pace of bombings has picked up both in Afghanistan, and Pakistan, which seems a very improbable thing for the Taliban to do when the admin to this point seemed to be backing off sending more troops, and it is at least possible that this new wave of attacks has its origin in the govt interests there, unless these ppl think posturing and bluster more likely to achieve their objective than being sensible. But one must look askance at assertions that the ISI and Iranians are suppliers of materiel as McChrystal's report is supposed to allege. That seems to be in the category of uranium from Africa. What they are using against us seems to be what we, ourselves, once supplied to them, jackasses that we are.
