"Revolution in this country"
...?
Really?
I honestly think TV killed the need for a Revolution. Moore is totally wrong here. There is no Revolution brewing, its complacent here.
REMant 01/13/2010 02:30 AM Report
What Moore is seeing is the triumph of the so-called "new economics" and it began long before Reagan, even before the 1920's, and isn't a matter of democratic values, because those ARE the values of the new economics, or what is also called the culture of consumption. It is not greed, but permissiveness that's the problem. And Judeo-Christian values are completely in line with the sense of shame and political correctness that is behind it all. It is this idea that says everyone deserves credit like kids deserve trophies, and it is the credit that turns the bull loose. Indeed greed is a function of it, not vice versa, because in their fundamental shame ppl are greedy for the love they hope money and what it commands will satisfy. For the rest, Henry Ford, pyramid schemes, securitization and all, he is of course right. Republicans or Democrats, they all stay in office, of course, by pointing their finger at the curmudgeons who would deny the ppl anything. As Walt Kelly said: "We have seen the enemy, and he is us."
