Few will remember, but Vitaly Churkin and Charlie Rose go way, way back, and together made a major contribution to US-Russian relations during the Gorbachev era. Churkin, then Second Secretary at the Soviet Embassy to the U. S., appeared on Rose's pioneering Nightmatch program, and openly discussed Soviet events - an unimaginable occurrence at the time. Churkin then went on to testify before Congress, I believe the first (possibly only) Soviet to do so during the entirety of the Cold War. The world owes Churkin, and Rose, a debt of gratitude.

Marketing and dissemination of nuke know-how is the elephant to contend with I suppose. Maybe saturation of this knowledge is needed (inevitable?). MAD doctrine with longevity might provide some working room to build wisdom. But alas, that's folly.

Who is North Korea going to go to war with? Certainly not China, nor South Korea, much less Japan. If they do they will be signing their own death warrant. Just ignore them, or create an arms blockade if you like. There's nothing they can do about it. I tend to think the same regarding Iran, except a blockade is a lot more difficult, and the people probably a lot more reasonable. We will know more about that in a few days. IMHO the US has historically been its own worst enemy and I wish it would learn to leave other ppl alone. If Russia wants to improve relations with Europe, Georgia and Ukraine, I think, it will have to stop using gas and oil as a club.

Agree he's impressive. Language wise and otherwise. Can you become too much so under Putin?

      Seemingly a diplomatic genius.

Not being a native English speaker myself I often take note of these things, his ability to speak was impecable.

I would like for Charlie to invite some Swedish Diplomats and see their skill.

      (totaly shallow, I know)
