Liberal arts is good, but he still doesn't understand how little of it there is here. I would say that the avg B-school undergrad here has little or no contact with the traditional liberal arts, and more and more undergrads have been, at least until recently, majoring in business. As I said above a command economy may respond to crisis quickly and effectively in the beginning, but the problems remain, and what happens next is not always desirable. I am uncertain whether he is condemning Europe for not writing off bad debt, or for not creating more of it. In the past week or two, BTW, the govt bulldozed two of the Slumdog millionaires out of their shanty homes, which does not strike me as in the spirit of Horatio Alger.
