Why in god's green earth would anybody turn their idiot box on prior to Jeorpardy and the Newshour later in the evening? Fox?

Please take the following poll, as an assessment of CR's audience.

Please name your favorite evening news program, and follow-on program. NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, NSNBC, yadda yadda. Follow up if inclined with radio favs: NPR, AM, FM, Limbaugh, yadda yadda?

I'm exposed. Idle interest in CR types in general.

Wow! Quite a few Saul Alinsky fans making comments here. Especially Rule #5 - Ridicule the person to neutralize the idea. Come on folks, use your brains.

Mika - I enjoyed her in CT. I'm sorry she left. I am concerned that her dad is anti-Israel and pro-Soros. Some have claimed that he is indeed the puppeteer pulling Obama = and so many more of the Progressive Democratic Causus's strings that he is really our President. Who knows?

The person who made the snide comment about Joe's aide - remember Kennedy's part in the death of one of his aides - the poor girl was drunk in the back seat of his car as it went into the water. Also remember how one member of Congress was treated so unfairly about the death of Sandra Levy - and now we know that she was victim of a serial killer. Bad things happen to women in this world. Another Alinsky Rule is that you can lie and not worry about it since it moves you towards you goal. With Alinsky, it is socialism. It seems we are closer to that although some argue that if socialism is government control of business, & it is facism that has private ownership but government control, then technically we are steps away from facism.

I wish the main stream media had covered the Tea Parties. I missed some of the show so I don't know if Charlie brought it up. I hope he did. The big lie is that they were started by Fox , etc.

I still think Mika's liberal bias sneaks through and I think she needs to monitor it carefully. Of course, I can't compare her with many of the others in the MSM, so I applaud her for her efforts so far.

I find that Alinsky's Rule #5 was used on Rush - he IS fat, he WORE a black shirt at CPAC, - he DOES pntificate (not as bad as Shuster, Oberman & old Shivering Legs, of course) but he does address the issue and provide links to the copious news articles he uses so that the listener or visitor to his site can make up their own mind. I think he uses Breibart.

So, to those Saul Alinsky-George Soros devotees who have commented here, stop it. Start addressing the issue. Substance over style. I know that you can do it. I may not always agree with Charlie, but he does focus on the substance and it is for that reason I respect his work.

Charlie, I watch your show because you have serious people on. Does this mean you're going to start having O'Reilly, Limbaugh or Hannity on too. These demimondes shouldn't be allowed anywhere near your show, they have their own station.

    4. myke  04/17/2009 03:55 PM Report

You're a good man Charlie, and you don't want to taint the brand. At a glance Joe looks too much like Hannity. I gotta tell ya Charlie, I have been brought up to have opinions about people like Joe and Hannity. Mikka shows obvious breeding. You should have taken her on at the Oak when she came to you back then. Now, she rides shotgun for Joe. That's enough to have made her old man (a truly noble soul) shudder. The Oak wouldn't be the oak (worthy of its class apart) without blemish, Charlie. Spare the oak and soil the woman. You're a good man Charlie. It's your best I seek. Always.

Well, Joe is well on his way to being an ideal Conservative. He's been married twice. Like John McCain and Fred Thompson.

Of course, to be a True Patriotic Conservative, Joe will have to ditch the current Missus (as a staffer to the now-useless Jeb Bush, she's worth nothing to Joe now) and find himself a third less-than-significant other to promise himself " 'til death do us part."

Like three-time wedlockers Rudy Giuliani, Newt Gingrich, Jack Welch (a frequent guest on his show with Suzy Q), and, of course, the Leader of the Conservative movement, Boss Limbaugh, his Big Pharma Fix, and his offshore bank accounts.

In 1986, Scarborough married Melanie Hinton. They had two sons, Joey and Andrew, and divorced in 1999.

In October 2001, Scarborough married Susan Waren, a former aide to Florida Governor Jeb Bush and a former congressional committee staffer.

    6. CMHILL  04/17/2009 02:29 PM Report

Why aren't all of your guests as awesome as you are Charlie Rose? These jokers claim to be the cutting edge of tv journalism and tv news entertainment but truly they fail to rise up to you in comparison. They are wholly unable to provide as complete an internet portal. Additionally, while your shows can be found as bootleg web torrents and youtube clips freely linked and embedded all over the web they don't even podcast their whole show. Eleven to fifteen minutes of video is not a worthwhile download. Its perhaps a longwinded viral clip.

Backed by MSNBC should mean something. You should be supported by every engineering feat of the western industrialized world overlain with supreme data processing and presentation ability. Instead you get two punch drunk clowns and some raw meat editorial talent on the other side of the table. Conversely I love the weather guy, Bill Karins.

Thanks to you Mr. Rose. Each weeknight you forge a gem. It must be an unfair comparison. When will commercial media realize that unless they roll up their sleeves and create a viable web product there will never be advertisement revenue parity. When evil telecom giants won't take stimulus money to invest in infrastructure content creators should organize against them and seek revenue from subscription fees already taken by these huge subsidy hog cable and phone companies. Regardless content providers need to work very hard to lobby for the proliferation of better quality, faster streaming networks throughout the continent and around the globe. American should be reaping in global internet ad revenue instead of quarreling over the crumbs of domestic interest in antiquated distribution models. Furthermore content providers such as Mika and Joe should follow through and generate a dynamic multimedia product that is lush with links and citations and resources on the topics of which they are chatting comfortably.

One of the greatest offenses of cable tv is the hypnotic way they repeat short clips over and over again. This can be remedied with a single showing followed by a link to a hosted clip that is accessible throughout the discussion. And links to buy the clothes they are wearing or the coffee they drink and the books they help sell can be made seamless without clumsy reference to consumer products. Also advertising has much to do with consistent release times and very few internet entries air on time or earlier than their TV simulcast. They seem destined for failure on this front.

Regardless these two are the vanguard of their profession. Its obvious that the world they exist in is being defunded like all other news and arts initiatives. Stay rich, Charlie Rose!

Why did Joe leave the House of Representatives?

      Hmm, let's see.

Scarborough Congressional aide Lori Klausutis found dead in Scarborough's Fort Walton Beach branch office on July 20, 2001.

Scarborough departed Congress on Dec. 31, 2001.

You don't suppose the death of Joe's 28-year-old, nubile, physically fit, sexy staffer in his Fort Walton Beach branch office less than four months prior to Election Day had anything to do with the end of Joe's political career?

Nah. Couldn't be. Never. Joe? Course not.

      Scarborough aide dies

      7-21-01

Police have found no evidence of foul play in the death of Lori Klausutis.

By JEFF AYRES, Daily News Staff Writer

An employee of U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough was found dead in the congressman's Fort Walton Beach branch office Friday morning, but police said there was no evidence of foul play.

A couple who was visiting the office about 8 a.m. for an appointment found Lori Klausutis, 28, of Niceville lying near a desk on the floor inside the office, located at 348 Miracle Strip Parkway.

Fort Walton Beach Police Chief Steve Hogue said Friday that a preliminary investigation into her death hasn't turned up any evidence of foul play or trauma to her body, nor are there any outward indications of suicide.

An autopsy was done Friday to determine the cause of Klausutis' death. The results were not available late Friday night.

Police said that there was no sign of a break-in or a struggle inside the office and nothing was believed to have been stolen from Klausutis or the office. Klausutis worked as a constituent services coordinator for Scarborough, a spokeswoman in his Washington office said Friday.

It isn't known how long Klausutis was dead before being found, or how long she had been at the office.

Paul Lux, director of public relations for Emerald Coast Young Republicans, also spoke well of Klausutis, who resigned her position as president of the group last month to devote more time to her education. Lux said she was an energetic leader and "a joy to work with."

"She was always very upbeat and positive about everything," Lux said. "Even when things got argumentative, she always stayed on the upside of the argument and would never resort to getting dirty or cruel."

Klausutis stayed with the group as treasurer.

Lux said he believed that Klausutis was in good health and "if she wasn't working or in school, she always seemed to be out running."

      Talent will win out?

      Charlie, what are you smoking?

Talent had nothing to do with the Stunningly Superficial Mika getting her job at MSNBC and talent has nothing to do with Stunningly Superficial Mika keeping her job at MSNBC.

Nepotism is the one and only reason the Stunningly Superficial Mika is employed at MSNBC.

Nepotism is the one and only reason you called Ziggy's Stunningly Superficial daughter.

Lots of talented, gifted, hard-working, driven journalists are out of work.

But the Stunningly Superficial Mika has Big Daddy in her back pocket. That's why you called the Stunningly Superficial Mika when she was out of work. That's why MSNBC gave the Stunningly Superficial Mika her current gig. That's why the Stunningly Superficial Mika will have all of the high-paying media jobs she wants the rest of her life.

      ****

      Charley,

Why didn't you ask Joe about Lori Klausutis? Some lives mean more than others?

    9. NoPardonForMilken  04/17/2009 02:07 PM Report

Mike is stunningly superficial. Without Daddy, she'd be working as a legal assistant, being chased around the office by some pervert out of the Podunk Law School.

As for Joe, he offers so little that he's barely worth the effort. An ardent fan of the Bush Administration's decision to torture the opposition (methods we never used in World Wars I or II), I would enjoy having the opportunity to waterboard Joe about the death of Lori Klausutis. Within the first pint, one can be rest assured that Joe would spill everything.

    10. Tisow  04/17/2009 01:12 PM Report

Charlie, if you and Joe are both journalists there must be

a degree system as in Karate. You're a 10th degree black

belt, Joe has a white belt.
