pishro, you are very confused. True, there are backwards elements to all religions, because people are people, and for the most part, people are stupid. But if it's a contest of who can be the most stupid, then the gold medal has to go to Islam. Islam has problems with the jews, christians, hindus, neighbors, themselves, Democracy, life, science, intelligence, civilization, learning (except when it comes to building a bomb), etc. etc.. The list is literally endless. They hate, hate, hate, everybody and everything. And those in the religion who are not like that, have no power to stop the assholes.

To peaceistheanswer:
Then according to your logic am I to believe that Judaism and Christianity are also the terrorist encouraging religions? What happened to the peace loving Ishak Rabin the late prime minister of Israel? I suggest you think before you write comments!!! If Islam is bad so are the other two institutionalized religions, after all, they all worship the same God, hu? don't they?

Although I commend Mrs. Sadat for her good spirit and will to help her people, I don't think she is a realist. I can't help but think of how this whole contrived rhetoric concerning Islam being a peace-loving religion plays out in real life! Actions speak louder than words. As I see it, the majority of 'peace-loving' Muslims are not lifting a finger to oppose the NON'peace-loving' ones! In this case, if you're not part of the solution, then you're a part of the problem.
This is where I see the late president Sadat; he was attempting to be a part of the solution, unfortunately for him the political agenda of the Middle East requires to maintain the status quo of war and mayhem!

Here is a very good woman; staying true to and continuing to honor her late husband, who sacrificed himself in an effort to put an end to the unneccessary violent stupidity of others... She chooses to do this, not because her religion "requires" it of her, but because as a decent human being, she knows the difference between right and wrong.

It would have been interesting to hear her view on sharia law and the treatment of woman in Egypt and other Muslim countries. That is the violence that I think about in connection with this peaceful religion.

Very sad story is that of purported Arab moderates. Why doesn't Mrs. Sadat tell the rest of the story of her late husband? Were the people of Egypt upset with Sadat because he worked for peace? Some probably were. But, if anyone cares about the truth, Sadat was not killed solely on account of the peace treaty with Israel. He was killed as a natural response to the violence he directed against his own people. The entire Arabic speaking world heard Sadat on the radio calling those who opposed and peacefully demonstrated against his policies “bandits,” and threatening to “strike them with lead.” When her husband goes about striking her countrymen with lead, basic self preservation will inevitably impel some of those at the receiving end of that lead to respond with lead. But, hey, spare the lead spoil the people. We cannot let that happen.
