Senator Hamilton's description of President Obama include the following words, very deliberate, very intuitive, and very inquisitive politician, and listens to all sides carefully. He is cautious, and bold. Those words are truly Obama.
Pakistan is a danger to the well being of the world at the moment and in the near future. Pakistan is not doing anything remotely satisfactory to us as far as chasing after Al-Qaida is concerned. Many of the interviews I heard of President Musharif gives me goosebumps to say the least. I have a feeling that if he dies, the government will fail in the hands of the extremists. It seems we have been packing all our eggs into one single basket and that is dangerous, we should stop celebrating individuals and help countries to be more responsible. I hope the Obama administration will do just that rather than trusting individual leaders, rather than helping the civil society.

I never had the chance to tell Mr. Rose how nice your webpage has improved and how enjoyable it has become. I think I am beginning to prefer watching your program online than on cable. Whoever designed it has made it very nice to watch.
p.s. related guests should include full conversation of the guests instead of breaking them down into minute sound-bites.
Well done.

As in the financial crisis, we will 'earn' everything we will surely get.
Try this as a cautionary tale:
TECHNOLOGY IS TRANSFERABLE (TIT - THE HIND ONE UNDESIRABLE.)
Now visualize an eclectic fleet offshore of NY City in international waters (50 miles?), an ensemble from Yemen, Syria, Sudan, Iran, N. Korea, Pakistan et al.
Seven missile freighted drones are fired (either one from each, or one firing all seven). One at Wall Street, one at Times Square, one at Statue of Liberty, one at White House, one at Capital, one at Pentagon and one at State Department. Targets? Symbolism!
NOW! Test your arrogance level. What proportionality ratio do you deem acceptable now? At one time ours was 30:1, innocent to bad. If the target is three American officials, do they get nearly a 100 civilians free of world-wide condemnation - as we seem to expect as our due?
Make one drone head for the city hall of Peoria - just to see how it plays. Are the deaths in a mountain village less dear than those in Peoria?
For the arrogant: Yes [X], No [ ].
All others: Yes [ ], No [X].
As in Iraq, we will leave (ultimately) with more hatred than when we arrived. Ahh, but the profiteers will be happy clams in the Bahamas.

Lee Hamilton, along with Dick Lugar, is greatly loved in Indiana. Both are knowledgeable, competent, and thoughtful, and it is reassuring to know that the president is listening to them. The Sunnis in Iraq, the Wash Post reported the other day, have descended into the sort of tribal politics that Hamilton describes, and I agree we must accept, hoping it can co-exist with the rather more theocratic Shiites. The thought occurred to me later that he may have been thinking of Woodrow Wilson's presidency, derailed by WWI, or JFK/LBJ's, by Vietnam. It's a cinch we are not going to be able to afford guns and butter, even if it were possible and in our interest to pursue a policy of reform in the Near East and at the same time at home, certainly not without creating vastly more inflation. Inflation will just exacerbate our problem with asset bubbles and hoarding leading to further declines in productivity and degradation of the poor and middle-class.

What a dinosaur this foil for the M-I complex is. His mission: sustain all extant conflicts and create potential for additional at all costs (payable to Raytheon, Boeing et al). Anti-American sentiment is an IDEA, not a particular nation. The 911 hijackers were Saudis, many terrorists from Yemen. Maiming, killing and wounding Pakistani's is mindless arrogance. Especially with the indiscriminant killing with drone-fired missiles, and their "acceptable"collateral damage (to us not them), creating more alQaeda than removed.
We're led by a ship of arrogant fools. M-I complex oligarch is too entrenched. Obama is not powerful enough to do anything about it - even if inclined.
As in the financial crisis, we will 'earn' everything we will surely get.
