Ezza 01/10/2009 09:18 PM Report
Has it occurred to you Mr. Rose to ask Mr. Simon whether he thinks what the Israilies are doing in the West Bank and Gazza is fair, just, moral, or even human?
Mae 01/10/2009 01:16 PM Report
By their actions it appears that Israel is attempting to neutralize the West Bank by carving it up into cantons and to recreate the Warsaw ghetto in Gaza.
The Israelis are interested in land, that's the bottom line. The Palestinians have as much right to defend their lives and their land as Israelis do, after all they're the one's actually being wiped off the map.
davidb 01/09/2009 09:29 PM Report
The key impediment to peace in the Israeli Palestinian conflict is not the matter of the Settlements as Bob Simon claims. After living in Tel Aviv for ten years, it seems he does not really understand the issues, or he is in denial of the issues. It is the refusal of the Arabs to accept Israel’s existence. Period! What’s more, there is no indication this will change. I was surprised, Charlie, you did not bring out this point in the discussion.
The perception in the West, is that an injustice has been done to the Palestinians. What about the injustice that was done to the Jews in the Arab world who were persecuted and lost everything. It’s a miracle they left with their lives. Just think what would have happened to the Iraqi Jews for example, had they stayed in Iraq. I should know.
The Arabs are not interested in peace; that is the bottom line. Nothing but the disappearance of Israel would satisfy them. In the circumstances Israel must do everything possible to safeguard its survival.
