What a great show. I was delighted to hear the wonder in the voices of the humans caring for this special horse. I actually attended the Belmont race and was saddened that the day did not go Big Brown's way. What saved the day for me was seeing the real concern in the crowd for the horse's well being after the race. He is a champion and well worth your time and efforts on this story. I know we will hear from this beautiful horse again. Thank you, Mr. Rose, for a great glimpse inside the horse racing family.
I was disgusted by this show. If Mr. Rose is really an animal lover then why not show the seedy side of this "sport". I refer to Bryant Gumbel's show and his report on "Hidden Horses". Race horses that no longer perform as expected are auctioned off and shipped to Canada and Mexico for slaughter. Video of the slaughter makes ones stomach turn.
I was saddened to see the Charlie Rose I have so long respected falling for the absoulute hypocrisy of the horse racing crowd. It is quite clear that not one of them cares about the horses except to keep them operating long enough to make money. Run to death, run when tired or injured. The males flown around the world to breed over and over when their racing days are done. The females run to death as expendable and then slaughtered. The life of a race horse is hell and I am surprised and dissapointed that Charlie Rose did not even touch on that.

Thank you for showing this report after the fact. The owner, the trainer, the jockey, the exercise girl, the President of the NTRA, they are all a bunch of fools. They were so righteous before the race. But, that's horse racing. The biggest fool was the trainer for running the horse with a Quarter Crack, the equivalent would be for you, a human, to have a fractured toe and try to run a mile in less than four minutes. Big Brown's connections were all just greedy and they didn't give a damn for the horse at all. Pray for a Miracle!
After watching the results of the race today I was sick. I read that he had cracked hooves the two front and more recently {two days ago} a cracked rear hoof. The vet said "this is very minor injury, a 3 on, and 10 scale and look what happened. This is tragic and look what happened in his last race and for what?
Very disappointed that you completely ignored the facts that show the Big Brown group winning would be tragic for horses and racing. Drugs, IEAH ownership are just the tip of the iceberg. You owe your devoted watchers (me) a segment on this part of the story.(Read NYTimes June 7 OP-ED)
This was a GREAT show . You exposed a part of yourself that I admire, your love of animals is admirable. It was so good to see you outside away from the oak table and the robotic cameras. Thank you Mr. Rose this was really a fresh honest show.
Thank you for having Big Brown's people, I am fascinated with the triple crown event. I will be watching with my horse loving family. Best of Luck to Big Brown.
