Charlie Rose often tries to get his guest to say what Charlie Rose wants to say, he failed most of time. It's pathetic on his part. He should know his guests are heavyweights on these subjects, he is only a talk show host and most of time clueless on these subjects except for some buzz words.
Just one more conversation about Darfur because of China. Even Jan tried to talk about a billion people. But Charlie is only interested in Darfur. "I believe there is a place ...". What a joke!
Jan Egeland: In Iraq, more people were killed, KILLED, than in Darfur, by blant violence. Charlie Rose sit there speechless for 6 sec ....
I learned a lot from the conversation Charlie had with Jan Egeland. After all he has witnessed, it was good to hear that he remains optimistic about the future. His important book, A Billion Lives, is an important reminder that nearly one-seventh of the world's people live in abject poverty and fear.
Brilliant episode last night. I have yet another book to purchase (Jimmy Carter), and I look forward to reading it. With great thanks to your show, I also became aware of "A Billion Lives" and later had the opportunity to meet Mr. Egeland on his book tour. I believe this show deserves credit for an apt pairing of the peace efforts of Carter and Egeland. May many more exemplar people gain recognition and draw attention to their concerns in similar interviews, as dialogue is the greatest human communicative advantageâ??jumping too quickly into action without a guide of reason is thoroughly unwise, as our nation has recently learned.
When we can or will produce the same profit margin for food and medical aid as war machinery then and only then will it be accomplished. Besides Darfur and Congo are (gasp) black.
