What a funny conversation that was, man! Deputy Secretary of State Mr. Negroponte is funny. At one point he says he does not know why the policy of embargo against Cuba, he just follows the same idea set before him. This is what you call a robot, says what he is fed and does what he is told, he does not question why, but he follows it because it there before him. It was because of the Soviet Union we stopped trading with Cuba. Now Russia has taken the active duties of what the Soviet used to do, yet we now do trade with Russia but not Cuba??? No one can understand the logic behind the policy, it is just there and keep on following it. I doubt the US is ready to change policy even if Cuba changes. Things have changed with Raul Castro, small businesses are allowed to flourish, and cell phone and Internet is on. Instead of extending hand now while these small changes are taking place to encourage further change, the Republican Party is still not ready to do anything. That is really sad.

And Obama is called an Elitist? This guys (Negropontes') so far removed from reality that he's sickening. Typical status quo for the American government.

Charlie, At the 3:06 mark, you interrupted Mr. Negroponte on his tour of the world and the myriad of successes of the Cheney-Bush Administration with some mindless drivel about the Congo. Charlie, as Mr. Negroponte noted, "life goes on." Do not interrupt your Master while he is speaking or another blackened eye will you receive. You remember how we gave you the first one and why. Don't make us do it again. Mr. Negroponte and the Cheney-Bush Administration are your Gods. Treat them accordingly or suffer the consequences of your insolence.

Bush's Presidential Medal of Freedom was given to George John Tenet, L.Paul Bremer III, Tommy R Franks. Sad that John Negroponte was not on that list. Charlie, with you as a facilitator, maybe Negroponte still has a chance of winning his medal before Bush's term is over. Who can forget that picture of Colin Powell's (poor man) lie to the UN Security Council in February 2003. And there was Negroponte sitting beside George Tenent. Well, if Negroponte does not get his Medal of Freedom, he certainly got his 15 minutes of world infamy!

Did you see Negropontius say with a straight face that Iran was supporting the Taliban? And better yet, Charlie didn't even bat an eye. Charlie Rose, a closet neocon-lite-statist posing as a liberal elite. Who knew?

I used to watch CR, but I got smart. Now I look at online & read the comments first. This way I don't have to waste my time. Thanks for the warning fellows.

I generally find Charlie Rose engaging and intelligent. But after watching the interview with John Negroponte I was disgusted. Charlie if your going to just let these guys spew propaganda without even confronting it, why not just go get a cup of coffee and let them do it alone. In the beginning of the Bush administration they were given the benefit of the doubt, and perhaps rightfully so. But it is apparent to any rational observer that nothing from this administration can be taken at face value. If I wanted to watch "journalists" suck up to to administration propagandists I'd watch fox news. Charlie trying being a journalist again, this stuff is pathetic!

Mr Negropontes performance on Mr Roses interview show was worthy of a DPRK Gold Medal of diplomatic excellence in the art of blowing smoke up the a$$. A veritable tour DE force of speaking volumes, with facts and figures on the tip of his silver tongue all to distract one better from realizing that he was saying nothing of substance, and all done with that little smile on his face. Since there was no discernible official agenda served by his appearance on Mr Rose's show, one has to surmise that perhaps Mr Negroponte had another agenda to fulfill with his appearance in NYC and was filling time with Mr Rose?

Why did your interview with J. Negroponte remind me of a debate about truth and integrity with a used car salesman? Charlie, your not in Kansas anymore, why waste your and our time with people like Shultz and Negroponte?

How chilling to watch Charlie spin administration talking points with the war criminal Negroponte. How many euphemisms for stealing a country and disenfranchising a people in their own land could that disingenuous administration 'spokesperson' contrive? My stomach is still turning. George Shultz last night, Negroponte tonight,...who knew it was War Criminals Week on Charlie Rose?

This evening's gold medal goes not to Charlie, but to Bill Moyers for his interview of Rev. Jeremiah Wright! I agree with JOSEPH and BRUCE: Mr. Negroponte speaks with serpent's tongue.

I was shocked at the soft-shoe you danced with the devil. And to call him "one of the most skilled diplomats..." in you sign off was shocking. Negroponte, within his long career, represents what is foul about the United States: deception, imperialism, "what is in the interest of the United States [wealthy\. Have you forgotten the Contra wars, just one example? And you allowed him to get away with linking fighting Iraq with fighting Al Queda. Charlie, what are you doing?

Very seldom do I turn off CR, but I can't watch Negroponte. I don't agree with Schultz, but I listened to him. A lot of people I don't agree with I still listen to. I even grit my teeth and listen to Jann Wenner when he is on. At least he's a Liberal. But I can't listen to Negroponte for the same reason that I couldn't listen to Karl Rove or Dick Cheney or Bush. Maybe Bush, because I sort of enjoy ridiculing his ignorance and stupidity in my mind as I watch him with a sort of morbid curiosity. I can't listen to Negroponte because he is one of that inner group of Neocons who are so devious and have such a planned and plotted agenda for their conversations. It isn't even lying, as with Bush. Or just simply telling mistruths as Cheney does not even trying to deceive, just spouting his version of the truth, as if his saying it will make it true. Negroponte seems to me a symbol of that oligarchical group that spends its entire existence scheming and implementing those things necessary to control the country for their own ends. And those ends are not noble. At bottom, they are petty and selfish and shortsighted. So he simply says whatever he wants people to hear on which they will base decisions. He spreads propaganda with every word. It is what he does for a living. Sorry, Charlie. I can't watch. I'll bet a lot of people feel the same way.
